OK, you may see my signature and the components I have. I finally received my 8" Alpines so I'm ready to go right?? Wrong! OK, I figured it would be decently easy to find a nice spot to mount in these 5.25" MB Quarts but it's not. I am obviously replacing the stock tweeter with the MBQ one and then installing an 8" Alpine in the stock speaker spot (TY for the how-to BTW it helped wonders in just giving me a little better visual of what it should look like in the end)...BUT (there's always a BUT)...where do I mount this friggin 5.25" speaker? If anyone has any ideas it would be greatly appreciated. My only front door idea is the small hole to the side of the stock speaker hole in the metal of the door. I could cut this and make this work, but do I really want to do that since the sound may be muffled by there being no grill in the door panel for it there? OR I could mount it right behind the front seats in the panel that the rear speakers are mounted in BUT make sure they are mounted as close to the front as possible. This option by far is the easiest and would look the best with the least ammount of effort, yet how will it sound as the speaker would kind of be down and behind the ear. Argh! Help please!

Kick panels would be your best solution I think. Put the tweeters and the 5.25" driver in kicks with the 8" drivers in the doors.

But if you're not doing that, then you could put them higher up in the doors, like the factory 4" speakers on some Celicas. It'd be a pain to get it to look and sound good, but that's really the only feasible option I could think of besides kicks. Trust me, you don't want your 5.25" drivers behind you.

I thought about it and played around a little with different setups. I decided to replace the factory tweets with the ones from MBQ and I actually got cheated on the Alpine 8" Subs as they were sold under the condition they had never been used, yet when I received them one had a ripped surround. Stupid ebay. Anyways, picked up 3 year old MTX 8's today as a filler until I get the funds to buy some nicer ones. Then I moved onto the problem of the 5.25" speakers. I could only find one spot with enough clearance behind and flat enough to mount the speaker and have it look decent. It sounds amazing and I only have the passenger side done. Tell me what you think? I'm sure some may say it's ugly but it's how it sounds to me and it sounds great and looks better than anywhere else I could've put it while still sounding this good. Only other place was kick panels as Coomer said, but I decided against it....actually I didn't see his reply until after I had already cut this hole and mounted lol. If anyone likes the look I'd be glad to do a how-to.

Done at 2:03 am. Went a lot quicker than I thought. Will post new pics in the morning.

BTW, sounds and looked amazing to me. I put in a few different genres and it's a very versatile sound system.

nice, does it rattle when you put up the volume? by the way...do those pioneer subs kick good? are they 10 or 12's? i picked up a 12' from walmart for 40 bucks but haven't tried it yet cause i need amp and box. let me know about the performance of it.

Yeah it rattles a little. I need to drop the spare tire well eventually with a cutter and weld in a 1/2" thick wall between the two subs so each one has it's own chamber and then also weld the spare tire well back on really well to make it not rattle anymore. After that the subs will sound even better. And yes, they hit very hard. I work at Best Buy so I get to listen to stuff all of the time, and I heard these and was amazed for the price at how nice they sounded. They are the 10's though. I will eventually get two Alpine Type E 10" but for now these sound good for the price.
