paypal fraud, WARNING! Options

Ok guys, I just got this e-mail from paypal... it's a recipt for $200 'sent' from me to someone, and at the bottom is this thing for disputing the transaction. So I was like... WTF? I sent no money...

So, I click on the thing, looks just like Paypal. I put in my e-mail and password and it comes up for me to list all my personal stuff... and I am like... wtf.. this doesn't feel right.

So, I went on another browser window and went to paypal... logged in, and guess what. I had not sent any money nor hand there been any such transaction. So, I changed my password immediately and closed the other window out.

This is a warning to all you guys. If you get such an e-mail, go to paypal and check things out first!

thats scary, you didnt enter your personal info in i hope. this is the reason i always buy stuff in person.

naa, I did type in my password though. I changed it in less than a minute though. It seems so real, but logged into paypal and that transaction doesn't exist.

I got that too, and i thought the same exact thing until i realized.. i got the email on my school account, and my paypal is linked to my yahoo account... clever phishers!

If you ever get an email like that and think it might be real, you should always ALWAYS go to the site yourself, never follow a link.

yes they are clever. Most people would have missed it, that's why i posted up here. Man, it looks SO real also. It's gonna suck for them when they try and use my paypal.

i usually delete all the mail i get from ebay and paypal now unless i bought something or i paided some one with paypal i wont even open those emails cant tell which ones are real no more.

there are 2 paypal sites, 1 real, 1 fake...
make sure that theres a https not http, the s stands for secure. another difference is the login buttons.

real: https://www.paypal.com
fake: http://www.paypal.com

its like the real site but your info goes to someone else and they tap in your account and clean u out!

i got this email but the first thing i thought of is it was a scam. so i went to paypal.com, logged in and there were no transactions. so i deleted the email. damn scam artists

if you get an email from paypal, check the senders email, most the time its not even a paypal related email address

Forward it to spoof@paypal.com, they take that kind of thing pretty seriously. I had that happen to me once too, I almost clicked on the link but then I actually went to paypal and logged in only to find I had no charges.

I get loads of fake Paypal emails, thats why I got my gmail account a while ago, for all my ebay business stuff. Gmail has good spam protection and somehow lets the 'real' Paypal emails through and filters the fake Paypal emails.

I hate lowlife people that have to run a scam to make a quick buck. My girlfriends brother (new to eBay) found a motorcycle on there and emailed the seller asking how much he would end it early for. The seller responded saying he'll end it for $3,700 which was a really good deal for it. The seller said he'll sell it directly to him and will even provide shipping. Her brother thinking he's getting an awesome deal gets a loan for this motorcycle. He tells me he found someone on eBay selling a motorcycle similar to one he was looking for and I told him that was awesome and he said he was getting a good deal, etc. Not even realizing it, I didn't ask how he was going to pay. The seller told him to send the money to his 'eBay agent' through Western Union. <<< Her brother loses $3,700 the second he sent the money.

DO NOT EVER send money outside of an eBay transaction. Simple as that.

Yep, definitely report it to Paypal. I got a fake one from ebay that looked real and it had an "update information" section and had spots for all my info with asterisks saying it was required information. I reported it to ebay and they confirmed it was fake.
