The sideskirt group buy is purchasing skirts from a UK supplier which will be picked up in the UK. I have been told that we will be charged a 17.5% VAT tax. I have also been told that this amount is refundable once the skirts leave the country. Apparently there is some VAT form that we need. Can someone let me know how to get this form. Thanks.

Honestly, I don't think it's in that link... I posted it before I got to look through it. I believe you need VAT form 407 or 435... but I had no luck finding them.

These links seem to indicate that the refund form can be obtained from the retailer:

Right now it's all about what I need. Maybe sometime during production if I end up with enough money you and Romas could be nice enough to let me jump in on the deal. -------------------- Project ST204.5 99.88946% complete... |

They are being picked up in the UK and transported across the border (by the buyer) to Lithuania. -------------------- QUOTE(lagos @ Jul 10, 2006 - 1:55 PM) i know your trying to do the right thing for your motor, but this is one of those times where you should just trust the guys who have had their swaps for a while and have done a ton of research into this. |

I should know this, but I think number 4 should clear it up for you?
I'll ask on Wednesday for you. Goods not covered by the scheme The scheme does not include: 1) new or used motor vehicles 2) a boat that you intend sail to a destination outside the EC 3) goods costing over £600 in value exported for business purposes 4) goods to be exported as freight apart from antiques, goods needing an export licence 5) unmounted gemstones 6) bullion weighing over 125g or 7) mail order goods. You should be able to reclaim your VAT when the goods leave the EC (i.e Lithuania). But as I said I'll find out for you on Wednesday.

Thanks Rich. My understanding is that form 407 must be filled out by the vendor and that only the vendor can get the form. My further understanding is that once the goods leave the EC, the customs agent marks the form and then I can send the marked form to the vendor for the refund. Please confirm that this is your understanding.

Once the goods are leaving the EC Customs stamp the 407 & you send the form back to the vendor. REMEMBER: You can only get your VAT refund if the vendor is part of the VAT back scheme. If he's not, then tough ****e Who's picking them up for you? I ask this as it may get complicated seeing as though you're not there with the goods. But as I said I'll check tomorrow for you. Right, ok, here we go. I'll try & make this as easy as poss.
You won't be able to use the VAT form 407 as this is for PERSONAL exports only. For example; If you were on holiday/vacation in the E.C & you had the goods with you when you go back home to the States, then you can use the VAT 407 form. What you need to do is call the vendor/seller & ask them if they have a form which is called a C88. If they don't have the form or don't know what youre talking about, then you'll probably have problems getting the tax back on them This C88 form is for goods which are being shipped out as freight & need to be zero rated (Tax free) when they leave the EC. The goods are leaving from Lithaunia right? If you PM me I can give you the direct number to call at the airport & I'm sure the Officers who deal with these forms on a daily basis will be more help than I have LOL Hope I've been usefull Cheers, Rich -------------------- |

Does the C88 form work the same way? Is it filled in by the vendor? Once its filled in, then what happens? I know under the 407, the form gets stamped by customs and then is returned to the vendor for the refund. If the goods are shipped by airmail out of Lithuania, how can the sender get the form stamped? I assume the box will already be sealed when it is taken for shipment. I really appreciate your help. - Jay -------------------- QUOTE(lagos @ Jul 10, 2006 - 1:55 PM) i know your trying to do the right thing for your motor, but this is one of those times where you should just trust the guys who have had their swaps for a while and have done a ton of research into this. |

I know it's an international call, but it'll sort everything out so you know exactly what to do. I'll pm you the direct number. The best time to call is anytime between 07:00 & 22:00 UK time.
