My dad has been a Carpenter for my whole life haha. and he used this stuff from home depot that cost half the price and its exactly the same as dynomat. if not better. we used it in my brothers conversion 2003 GMC Astro, and its awesome.
we just used contact cement and the home depot crap. if anyone is at all interested ill get the accuall name of it from him tonight and reply on here. just a thought ![]() This post has been edited by kman2010: Sep 29, 2005 - 8:18 AM |

There is a thing called fatmat, its the same thing as dynomat but the price is 130$ for 100sq. ft. Which is a pretty good deal.

the only thing that rattles in my car (i did a bunch of soundproofing with rubber-foam) is the liftback shock (the piece where the licence plate goes), and actually under the trunk, as in outside the car. And i can't find it. Probably a mount for the gas tank or something. Next time you guys have your subs going, get under the rear of your car and see if you have the same problem

Wow am I the only person here without any major ratteling???
I had some rattleing after I swaped out the front speakers (so I got some dynamat and that did the job). The only thing thats bothering me right now is the damn hatch cover, and that thing rattles only when my amp gain is at 12bd's -------------------- <<AKA THA RUSSIAN>>

the only thing that rattles in my car is a screw that the idiot at bestbuy dropped into the vent when he installed my cd player, otherwise its all good.
maybe some of you guys should start checking how well your interior is put together IE tighten things down before looking into soundproofing -------------------- 1999 Celica GT

My car suffers from very little rattle without any modifications made to the interior.
The only two sources of rattle is a tiny bit from my number plate cover (which is minimal and I can put up with), but I am getting some EXTREME rattling from my parcel shelf. Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can minimize rattling besides removing the parcel shelf completely (or turning my stereo down - because that is not going to happen)? -------------------- ![]() |

After dynomatting the entire trunk with double layers of dynomat (don't worry, got it at a steep discount) the only thing that still rattles is some metal inside the ****ing back fender.

no no no, I just a few days ago solved all my rattle problems, I have a Eclipse 12" titanium sub taking in 800 rms that was bairly hearable over the sound of plastic parts vibrating around. what I did was buy 100 sq ft of "fatmat" off ebay and did the whole trunk and up in the hatch (actualy most the vibrations is the trim aorrounding the back window) but anyway I used about 1/4 of it to do the whole trunk and now the vibrations are gone, just down to the little bit in the doors and under the dash witch will soon be covered as well. Fatmat is in my opinion the best stuff out there, its a great price for how much you get and easy to install, works like putting on duck tape. took me about 2 hours from start to finish, including stripping the trunk plastics out and my sub and spare tire crap, then covering it up so that no visible green was in the trunk sept some parts on the side. and re-assembling the trunk. I'll take some pics of it all if you guys want but its all you need to fix the rattle can issue that our cars have, also it helps gets rid of road noice too.

I have never had this problem, but wanted to do something to make my trunk/boot look rockin’ . . . and sound proof!
here's how: -I went to homedepot and got some carpet padding, and carpet….then took the rug out and traced it on a piece of maysinite (sp?). -then cut the wood- -then sprayed adhesive on the back of the board, and stuck the carpet padding on. -then stapled the carpet over the padding (all of this is on the bottom) -then i custom cut several blocks of wood, and caulk (regular bathroom cluck)(sounds scary, but i did not want to use liquid nails or anything like that because if in the if future i wanted to remove it...well you know...) also the blocks of wood were cut so when the seat were down, the whole back would be level! I should be working on my doors over winter break. I plan on sound dampening the doors, getting rid of the rattles in the door panel, along with flush mounting the tweeter and finding a new spot for the crossover. Ill post pics when it's finished up.

Rockford Fosgate makes a product called Dead Skin. It's available in a mat or liquid form (bottle and aerosol can).
THIS STUFF looks like it works well but it sure ain't cheap that's for damn sure. Fatmat is supposed to really good also. They too have a liquid product. -------------------- |

someone on this site showed me this link, cant remember who, but it was the most informative read on sound dampening i've come across, anyone wanting to get rid of some rattleing should read this: http://www.sounddeadenershowdown.com/
that quiet car stuff sounds like it would work well as its made of some good materials, but thats assuming they dont overstate the specs on it. If you want to get rid of rattleing you need to add mass. This post has been edited by Tech9ine: Dec 5, 2005 - 11:21 PM |
