I have a hatch and like iceman23 I'm looking to do something here as well.
Whether are experiences will help you, I don't know. The pb with the hatch is that you have a "real" spare wheel which sits up in the boot. I find it a real pain in the but. So, I am looking at trying (and I stress I have never done this sort of thing before) to make a shaped panel (initially in hardboard) to fit horizontally flat in the boot using the spare wheel as a support at one end and then some sort of support and hinged design the other end (at the back of the rear seats). This will have the effect of giving you a gap under the board behind the spare wheel where hopefully I'll be able to fit my amp (+ ventilator) and sub-woofers. I'll also be able to access my spare wheel. Obviously there are many things to take into consideration, but I'm going to have a look at this over the xmas holidays. I'll keep you posted. |

i'm currently working on my custom trunk
i have little experience too but a friend of mine has a car audio shop as an "job on the side" (he's still a student too) he knows a lot about the actual carAUDIO & wiring but the trunk customizing is rather new to him too... but the advantage is that he's always busy on woring on people's cars so i get to see a lot of examples and all those exaples made me decide to stick to mdf & neons fiberglass is for another time i'm still deciding on using simili leather or shiny paint... i think the leather will fit in the car better but the shiny paint looks nice too! so idunno yet when my setup is done i'll post some pics! @ vphmc : i just kicked the spare wheel out... i hope i won't get into any tire trouble though |

for Ideas check out my how to on custom fiberglass interior... I would suggest making the box out of wood 1st though and then just adding fiberglass pieces that come off it to give it a clean smooth look.... its not that hard to do just takes a little time but is worth it once ur done.... and it cost alot less than paying a shop to do the same thing.
