I need some shots of the beams motor without the valve cover on. I want to see that part. PLEASE, this is driving me nuts! (I don't know why though?) I'm sure there are others on here that would like to see as well. biggrin.gif

It is a re-designed 3S-GE engine. (4th generation 3S-GE)
Yamaha was contracted to design the head.
It was the first test of the VVT-i technology.
It also has a direct fire ignition system with coil packs, there is no distributor.

I think Bigfoot is blurry, that's the problem. It's not the photographer's fault. Bigfoot is blurry. And that's extra scary to me, because there's a large, out-of-focus monster roaming the countryside.

Here are a couple I found somewhere on the net... They are of a blacktop... but I'd figure the redtop looks nearly identical on the top. The frontside where the camgears and such are will be different cause the blacktop is dual vvti and all...

After some research I found that the red-top Beams motor came in several platforms-

-Late production sw20 MR2's- Only about 1000 made.
-Toyota Altezza which in later production had the black top Beams
-Caldina GT's which also had the black top Beams and RWD (probably same components used in the Altezza.
-Toyota Corona ST191, possibly. A member on a Toyota club website in UK from Taiwan said he had a beams in his Corona, but it may have been swapped perhaps.
-And of course, the SS-III Celica with the red top Beams.

And speaking of Beams, I happened to find an MR2 in Pennsylvania that is RHD and has a Beams motor in it for sale....it can be yours for $17,500 over at MR2trader.com wink.gif
