hm.. just out of curiousity... did toyota discontinue 6gc parts? so say if i needed a wheel bearing or a cv boot or brake parts or something... would i be able to order it from them or would i have to find it either AM or used?
my aunt knows a used car dealer and the used car dealer said something like "don't get a 6gc because it'll be a nightmare to find parts since they're so hard to find. get an integra instead. parts are available everywhere. there's also a reason they are so rare to find. it didn't sell because they are ugly and slow compared to other cars" and now my mom won't really let me buy one... (because of the parts issue) -------------------- |

its not that parts per say are hard to find...its the aftermarket that can be hard to find..like turbo accesories, exhausts, cam gears etc...the stock stuff you can go down to the toyota dealer and they can normally get it for you in a week or 2 tops. imho i like the celica better than the integra i drove...i could barely fit in the 95 gsr i test drove...my knees were on the dash. and im only 5'10. yes a lot of cars are a lot faster but the celica is plenty fast enough...good luck though with whatever u decide.

Like philly said, stock parts are really easy to find especiall through the dealership. I just got my strut boots and from the dealer with no problems. And the used dealer said what he said to you probably because he had a lot of integras in stock, and no 6gc's. 6gc's are keepers, thats why you don't see that much being sold in used car dealerships. And the celica has ample stock power if your not trying to do some hardcore racing, and it has much more space than the integ.....much more- it'll be more comfortable to drive in my opinion. Well good luck with yer decision!

yea. i found it weird that the guy said it would be a nightmare to find parts since i don't think toyota would discontinue parts so fast considering they still offer parts for even older cars. i guess i have nothing to be worried about. yay.
yea... i've driven both... 99gsr, 98 gt-s hb, 96 gt coupe even tho on paper the celi is smaller, but it feels roomier inside (coupe even more so) -------------------- |

I wouldn't say there as easy to find as a car that is more common. Two things I've had problems with are axels and motor mounts. I found them, it just wasn't as easy as it was for other cars I've worked on.

Ive been able to get everything.... even the metal clip to connect the shifter linkage I managed to lose, took 3 days but they could get it. Dont worry about parts the dealer can get anything.

i don't know about america but in japan, they have parts for the car up to ten years after the last year they made them. so like toyota will stop making parts for the 6th gen celica in 2009. Not sure about america thou.
as of right now, yes you can find genuine toyota parts from the dealer. -------------------- PROJECT 6TH GEN
