hey guys i need help,

i don't know what laptop to get.

here are the stats:

T42
1.8 ghz
9600 mobile
256 ram

VS

T43
1.86 ghz
x300 (PCI E)
256 ram

----------------------------------

everything else is the same (hard drive, screen size....)

i'm stuck between these Two. Since this is my main computer, it needs to be able to do some light gaming. (such as city of heros or WoW.)

So here is the break down. The T42 is the older model, which still use the AGP technology. Its has a lower FSB (400 mhz) and runs cooler. The video card is faster then the T43.

The second competitor is the T43. It uses new technology with PCI-E. Its has a faster FSB (533 mhz). Its memory useage is better then the T42. The cpu is newer and faster by 60 mhz. But it has a slower video card compared to the T42. It also runs hotter then the T42. The T43 is newer and probably will have a higher resell value then the T42.

That is the toss-up.
So I have no idea what to do.

Can anyone shed some more light on this for me so i can decide. confused.gif

baaahhhh, get a ibook MAC. Mac's are the shizzznit. But between your two choices, just get the t42. You won't notice the mhz difference at all. It's probably cheaper too, and you can spend the difference to upgrade the ram. I'd check to make sure the ram is'nt split when you buy it. They like to do that to make it cheaper, but it uses up all your slots. I don't think you have more than a couple on those laptops anyways.

when the ram is "split" it is actually better, its called dual channeling and will make things run so much better. If you can see if you cant upgrade to 1 gig (2x 512 chips) and be prepared to be amazed.

Have you thought about getting a AMD 64 processor type laptop?
I have an older model one. It lastas 1.5 hours at the most, but can handle and far surpass my friends latest Centrino laptop.
