I've been doing some research and have heard lots of people saying that removing the stock pulley is bad because it is designed to absorb the harmonic oscillations from the engine. The stock pulley apparently has a rubber ring, designed to do this. So, by replacing the pulley with one that isn't designed to do this (none are), you can decrease the life of your engine for only moderate gains.

Anyone have any problems with their Underdrive pulley or know if Toyota engines come equiped with this rubber ring?

Bryan did you happen to see if such a rubber ring exists on the stock pulley?

I don't think there was a rubber ring around the stock pulley. I'm not gonna pull it out and check, but I'm pretty sure there wasn't.

also, don't worry about the harmonic balancers yadda yadda. as long as you get a well manufactured pulley (ie: asp or ud) you will be fine.
