I wanted to get a new optima yellow top, and from my understanding (correct me if Im wrong) the d34/78 is the best one, I believe.
My question is, will it fit in our cars, or does anybody here have this exact one, cuz this guy at autozone was saying that a lot of cars dont have enough space under the hood for this inperticular battery(with hood clearance).

Man, my experiences with my Optima Red Top (I really don't know if theres a difference in size, so this might not effect you) is really a love/hate relationship...

My battery will sit in its position, but for some reason my tie down will not 'tie down' tight enough to keep the thing from sliding...Every so often, I will hit a bump and the positive wires will slide off it's terminal. So the next time I try to start the car, it won't start. I have to pop the hood and readjust the battery and tighten down the positive terminal. Its a huge headache (not to mention my alarm goes off everytime I reconnect the power). I've tried numerous things to remedy this situation and now its to the point where I'm going to relocate the battery to the trunk.

Like I said, I dont know if there is a difference between the yellow top and red top in size, but its something you may want to consider looking into.

Other than that, I'm really happy with my battery. The car starts up without a problem every morning, even in really cold weather.

dude, i have a redtop. all you have to do is cut off the ends of the battery holder, then use a wrench or whatever to bend the ends again. my redtop isn't going anywhere. I don't have any problems with the terminals coming disconnected, and if you are, i'd recomend getting new connector clamps.

there are 2 things about the optimas that make them not 100% plug and play. 1 is that the battery is shorter then a normal battery. all you have to do is go to a parts store and buy new battery hooks for like 2bucks. the 2nd is that the positive and nagative are swaped around on the battery, so you kind of have move your cables around a little to make it work.

Yota, your terminals shouldnt come off. it sounds like there is somethng wrong with the ones you have, and probably need to buy some new ones. not to mention get shorter hooks to hold your battery down in place

My battery was also loose and i went ghetto and added a piece of wood under the clamp because the yellow top is shorter... it's worked great so far

I have a red top in mine, its pretty darn good. took no modding to get it to fit, just had to tighten the tie it down a lot wase, and both the connectors should be tightly fasend onto the batt or you have a problem, never should fall off even if you yank on it.

I have heard the yellow top is the best, but I'm happy with mine.
