I just bought a winter beater (92 Corrola) but there only 1 problem with it....you have to pump the break or pressing really hard on the pedal to stop efficiently and I would like to know how can I fix that...how much do you think that problem can cost me? Im asking that because the person who sold the car said that he can fix that problem before selling it to me but for 200$ more..but i bought the car as it was cause i thought the problem would be cheaper than that to fix
the car is in great condition with 204000kms...hope it last me couple of winters TIA This post has been edited by HaRv3sTeR: Nov 21, 2005 - 8:23 PM |

Sounds like you need to bleed the brakes, and that doesnt cost anything if you do it yourself. Bleed & refill the brake fluid.

You dont need to change it just bleed it. Theres a nipple that you'll have to loosen by each caliper and then pump the brakes and stuff. You need 2 people for this operation.

you probably have a leak in the brake system... check the fluid level. if all that checks out, try bleeding, if that dont fix it, your probably need a new master cylinder.
