A few weeks ago my mom backed into something that cracked her taillight lense. In order to save her a few dollars (ultimately a mistake), I bought a taillight off of ebay. The description said it was used, but in good condition with only a couple minor and repairable scuffs on the lense. When I got it today, there was a crack on the side of the bezel that pretty much renders this taillight useless. It will leak water into the housing. My mom is not satisfied with this. Neither am I.

So I emailed the sender and told him about it. I told him I will send this back and expect a full refund of my money because no where on the description does it say anything about a crack.

My question is, how difficult do you think this will be to get my money back and send back the taillight?

If you paid with paypal you can dispute the sale with the argumment that the description of the sale did not match the actual product received, therefore a full refund is justified.

Basically... shouldn't be that hard.

http://pages.ebay.com/help/tp/inr-snad-process.html eBay has a page about stuff like that. File a complaint against that seller with this and try to get the money back.

try to talk to the seller before filing a complaint, often they are as happy as you to clear it all up because they dont want bad feedback. So you shouldnt have a problem. If you do have problems then file the complaint and paypal will reimburse you even if the seller skips town.

btw to ge t a refund through paypal you only have 1 month since the date the auction ended. You mentioned it been a few weeks.. I say you have to get it resolved right now before paypal (if you used it) will say.. duh your problem

Yep, be sure to do it within 45 days, even if the seller gives you excuses to try to delay it past that. I recently tried to get screwed by someone on eBay, but I got my money back from Paypal. Now I'm working on making sure none of the people in the photography forums ever buy from the same guy.

i actually used a money order. To clarify, I believe its been 2 weeks since the auction ended. I sent the seller an email yesterday and haven't had a response yet. How long should I wait before filing the complaint with ebay?

Send him another email saying that you're not happy with the taillight and that you are giving him 24 hours to respond or you'll file the complaint on eBay.
