I call BS, these pics are from '97!

I'm just kidding. smile.gif Nice, glad to see another silvertop going in. Is that a 7AFE header I spy? You know that's not going to flow enough for the 4AGE, right?

Who's doing the wiring for ya?

When is it due to be finished? Looks good. I don't know much about engines compared to Dr Tweak, but I haven't seen a header on a 20v that was that small before.

It's the header that came with the swap, no its not a 7afe though. I'm guessing a 4age, it's never been brought up before

We are doing it ourselves!! kindasad.gif

If you need a hand with the wiring, you know who to call smile.gif

I've just spent the last 20 minutes or so looking at different pics, and I'm totally confused on the header. It's not a stock 20v part, but it's also not a 7AFE header. I'm not sure.

Ya, I don't have a clue either. But I'm fairly sure that it is a 4age part. Anyway, hopefully it will work well.

It's funny because I just finished a 4AGZE/Celica harness last week.

Which GZE is it? The MR2 or the Corolla Levin?

It's not a 4AGZE its just the 4AGE, and I believe it is from the MR2

BTW: if we cannot get this think going, I may be contacting you in a month or so about the harness ;-)

Oh yeah, I keep doing that because I see the Zs in "fuzzy" and my brain makes it say 4AGZE. biggrin.gif That's the silvertop from the Corolla AE101 Levin.

Actually, I'm finishing a 4AGE harness tomorrow! LOL

Batman, it does look like that. However, there are bolt holders welded on in the correct places for a 4AGE manifold shield... actually, maybe it's just the shield being gone that's screwing me up, maybe it is a stock part.

Those headers are the same size as the ones that came on my clip as well. they are very small for some reason.

Are these headers still good to use? Will they limit my HP?

Did it all go in pretty easy? Did you use your ST motor mounts and Tranny? What kind of problems (besides wiring) did you have putting it in?

Most was fairly easy! Motor mounts were perfect and the tranny was a snap. But there were and still are a few issues! Mainly the wiring kindasad.gif , but also the headers from the 4a and the 7a are not the same, the 7a is a two bolt system while the 4a is a 3 bolt, so we must have a flange made for the connection. Also, the throtle cable is too short, because the 7afe throtle is on the right and the 4age is on the left (if your looking at the engine from the front of the car. One other thing, we will be mainly using the 7afe wiring harness because it was from a US left-hand drive while the 4age is a JDM right-hand; this means that 4age wiring harness is too short to get to the connection in the firewall opening, also a problem with the 4age is the connection to the distributer, since we are using the 7afe harness, we have to use the 7afe distributer (because of connection differences) which is kind of a problem due to the height of the spark plug wires which do not fit under the 4age spark plug cover. So all in all, there are some rather large problems with the swap; but in the end it will all be worth it! My suggestion would be would be having Dr_Tweak do the harness for you, that would reduce the stress by a good amount. But go for it! Its one of the best swaps to do in our cars, and most of the time you will have fun doing it!

Have you got it running yet? Are you using the 4AGE ECU?

Not yet, not much time right now though, with Christmas and all! But hopefully soon! And ya, we are still going to use the 4age ECU. BTW what would happen if we used the 7afe ECU? Does it make a difference? it must in some way... right?

Well, you would need to use the 7A sensors, eliminating the AFM, and then the stock 4AGE injectors, and then the engine would only rev to 6500 RPM unless you took the crystal out and replaced it with another one... I've seen it done.

But in theory it's possible.
