since theres always someone on this site who is an expert on any given area, can any of you help me? im kinda overweight but not too bad, and i just want to know a good excercise that i can do after school to help me lose weight. i want to have as much fat as possible gone by march 18 (spring break). im 5'10" and weigh ~173 lbs. i have a decent amount of lean mass cause i was in weight training the first semester in school and i got my bench up to ~215, while working out the rest of the body. just trying to be as specific as possible cause i really want to get rid of some weight. im already trying to watch what i eat, but it seems to have brought me nowhere. some calc said i should keep my heart rate at around 140 for fat-burning. how much are the things that measure your heart rate? i dont want to have to stop and count during an excercise to find out my heart rate. what the hell do i do for quick, dramatic results?

Drink ice water

So in the case of a 16-ounce glass of ice water,
your body must raise the temperature of 473.18
grams of water from zero to 37 degrees C. In doing
so, your body burns 17,508 calories. But that's calories
with a little "c." Your body only burns 17.5 Calories,
and in the grand scheme of a 2,000-Calorie diet, that 17.5 isn't very significant.

But let's say you adhere to the "eight 8-ounce glasses of water a day" nutritional recommendation.
In 64 ounces of water, there are 1,892.72 grams.
So to warm up all that water in the course of a day,
your body burns 70,030 calories, or 70 Calories. And over time,
that 70 Calories a day adds up

YES! oh my goodness. I am on a very strict diet right now and i HAVE to drink 8 8oz glasses a day, or if i choose to have certain starches (pasta.. etc.) I have to drink 10 8oz glasses. At first its seemed like a lot, but i went and bought a one liter bottle of water which is 4 8oz servings, so i take that with me everywhere and I usually finish the 1st liter in the car on my way to work and then fill it up when i get there and drink that for the rest of the day.

You just need to watch what you eat, i have a 1/2 cup of oatmeal everymorning, and its not only good for your heart it kinda fills you up. Just stay away from junk foods and when you feel like snacking on something have a fruit or veggie instead. smile.gif

Of course there is always the need for exercise, i try to get on my tredmil for at least 20 min, then i do 20-30 min of pilates... well i wouldn't tell a guy to do pilates but running is always good. So i started my diet on Sat. and as of Mon. i lost 3.5 pounds. laugh.gif only 21.5 to go! biggrin.gif

aww we're like a support group, i love it.

^ Tina ur crazy - ur not even close to being fat!

Cardio is definetly what you need!

I see a trainer twice a week to get my strength training so i can kick boys butts then I try to get in for my cardio 3-5 times a week. I go even if its only for 20 mins. I try to do a minimum of 30 mins and a max of an hour but sometimes im so not in the mood but if you do 20 mins thats better than nothing. I also bought these pills from GNC that are supposed to be like trim spa. Im a receptionist so its very easy to snack thru out the day but these have helped alot. Ive only been taking them for 3 days but its curbed my cravings for junk. But i did notice that i freaked out while working out last night with my trainer so I need to make sure im working out before I take them cuz I dont wanna freak out like i did last night.

So yeah just drink alot of water and do ur cardio! :-) I went and saw a doctor when I wanted to get really serious about shaping up and she told me to do 1hr of cardio 3 times a week and id notice a difference.

and dont make it a resolution! just start now! :-)

Its also great to have incentives like if you lose this much then youll go buy this or something like that. My mom wants me to lose X amount of weight and she said when i do shed buy me all new clothes and give me 500 bucks. So that works for me.

What Mac said..

I have lost well I was 250 at one time.. an now im 175 an almost ripped? lol.. Im also 6'-1"

Cut out all fast food. Cut out a lot of fatty foods.. Eat 5-6 SMALL Meals.. Cut out Soda.. if you drink it, dirnk diet.. keep busy and dont sit on your ass.. Get a job that you are on your feet an walking around.

You will also have to start running, or biking if your knees are bad like mine now. 3-4 times a week for around an hour id say.. depending on how fast or far you can run.

Simple thing also to do is, do 100 push ups and 100 situps and 100 crunches everynight or morning ..

Thats what I have done and it has worked great for me.

back at the end of march when i got back from australia i quit drinking anything but water(i used to drink a lot of coke).

all i drink now is cold water. since then, i have lost over 25lbs, doing nothing but drinking water biggrin.gif. i am still losing weight, but at a slower pace. my pants size seems to get smaller everyday though.

also, i now hit the gym 3 times a week with my cousin. the new transmission added about 85lbs to my car, gotta cut the weight out somewhere!

This helped me a ton smile.gif I've slimmed down a lot...

K... what you wanna do is first of all, you wanna keep your metabolism up, and to do that, you wanna eat something healthy every 2-3 hours... I alwasy have like baby carrots on me or grapes or whatever... You get the idea.. Whatever you do! DONT STARVE YOURSELF! Its a stupid idea, and in the ed it just makes you gain it back quicker tha you lost it...

Second of all... Muscle burns fat, so you wanna gain muscle... Do weight lifting, and work out the entire body.

Then cardiovascular... This burns fat quickly when you work out in the "zone" as they like to call to... Now... You can go joging, you can use those machines that get your heart rate up. But you must to burn the fat, go runnng, or use a machine that gets your hart rate up for a minum of 20 minutes up to an hour... If you keep this up regularly you'll notice a quick change smile.gif

Oh and replace what you regularly drink with water. Drink lots and lots of it. Cuz it proven to give you more energy, make muscle function its best, and it does make you loose weight.

But just dont do cardio and drink water... You gotta keep your metabolism up (eat every 3-4 hours of something healthy), drink lots of water, weight lift and do carido...

Also, justa tip, work out in the mornings if you can, it keeps your metabolism burning calories throughout the day, it give more energy, and it wakes you up biggrin.gif. I wor out every moring at 6:30 and I love the results...

This really des work cuz i've been doing it for awhile, and I've toned up,
I lost prolly like 15-20 pounds... It looks great biggrin.gif

Hopefully this helps ya

Avoid meat and wheat. If you eat only vegetables with nothing on them for a topping. Then you should lose some weight. Vegetables actually absorb a lot of water and stuff from the body, hence the part where you can stuff yourself on vegetables and never be full.

I worked, and barely had time to eat much of anything. I dropped 10 pounds in a week or so, which brought me down to 5'8 and 190lbs.

I would like to weigh 175ish, but I don't think there is enough fat on my body to get down to that.

The last time I checked I was able to bench 255, clean 200 and squat 430... personally I like the leg press...690lbs
