I'm about to install the Super 60 turbo in my car as soon as I receive my FMIC, BOV, and SAFC-2(should be on their way). I'm also thinking about the future tho because I know the 7AFTE wont last for long cuz it has a crap load of miles. So I'm thinking maybe going 6 Speed and later swapping the blacktop. I SEARCHED and found that there are 2 good 6spd trannies for the A series. First, I need to know the difference between the C60 and C160 tranny. From the search on 6gc, i found that the c60 came with available lsd and the c160, i know for sure comes with helical lsd or sumthing. thats not a difference tho. lol. i mean, is there anything else? also, can i put a c160 and use it with my 7af(t)e? i would need the ecu for that tranny, i assume? let me know. thanks.

C60 and C160 are the same thing... only difference is a factory LSD option. These trannies are almost the same thing as the C52 and aren't neccesarily any stronger.

tranny is almost the same. The Celica GTS does use a C60 tranny... basically the same gear set but it's a slightly different bellhousing. That's why the old MR2 guys have taken the gearsets out of the 7th gen GTS's trannies and fit them into the C52 trannies without many issues... so I've heard through the grapevine.

No links besides what's in my head... hehe. I'm pretty certain the bellhousings are different (from doing various clutch jobs on 2ZZ celicas) but considering the trannies are all C series trans, and since I heard the gearset swap on various occasions all over the place (club4ag, local swap shops, my importers, etc) ... I'd lean toward possible truth. Also consider that the clutch kits between 1ZZ, 2ZZ, and 4A/7A engines are VERY VERY similar... -------------------- "It's ok to be naked girl... I'm an artist!"

c60 isnt a great tranny everyone i know with it has developed grinds in the first 4 gears and the slider forks on them sometimes just plain snap, for me 1-2 never went in right at high rpms (8500+) and couldnt be put in fast at all.
and anyone pushing over 275FWHP with it is upgrading to straight cut gears with no syncros and cyro treated bellhousings. another 5gs. so just letting you know the c60 might not be your best option. This is correct, I've seen the threads as well, and I've also swapped a C52 bellhousing onto a tranny from a 1ZZFE (which is the same pattern as the 2ZZGE) tranny. So I know that it can be done. I thought I posted that on here too... maybe I'll find it later if I'm not busy... -Doc -------------------- -Dr Tweak, 6GC's resident engine swap wiring expert extraordinaire Click here to see my swaps drtweak@phoenixtuning.com |
