My clutch is going out, the person I bought the car from sold it to me messed. they said it has only 10k miles on it but for some reason it's going out and it prolly only has like 2k more miles on it. im going to get new clutch as soon as i decide which kind to get. are there any suggestions on which brand i should get?

Since you're running an ST, I say get the cheapest clutch you can find, unless you plan and adding a turbo.

i, my self, don't like the Stage II from Center Force or any other clutch they sell. i like ACT. it gives a nice, crisp bite in hard shifting. i don't like Center Force, thats in my car now, because it wears out fast and doesnt really do the job as ACT would. there are some rumers that the wieghts that or on the pressure plate tend to break off and really meeing up your fly wheel... i'm just waiting for that. Clutch Masters is also one of my favorites. i have a Stage III in my AE86 and its just SICK!.

You should check this months NOPI mag. has article on new clutches and what to decide on, I just put a new one in my ST, 130,000 before the bastard went out, I just went w/factory OEM, had to get back on the road, no time to wait, charged around 500 bones for the factory one, Nopi suggests that unless you're doing some serious mods, Nitrous, turbo, blah,blah, then just go w/standard, a lot of people don't realize when you put in a heavy duty clutch, it works like a on-off switch, so in traffic or red-light districts it's a serious pain, you're continously dropping the clutch to get started, so unless you constently do hard driving on the track, it's not really worth it. My uncle has a older model 911 SC targa w/a racing clutch, it's such a friggn' pain in the city because it's all timing, and stuck in traffic, your leg gets a serious work out. On the other hand, wide open, it's the best. Anyway, you should check out that article and see what others say about the dual-friction, and stage II, I'm not to sure on how well they grip, but for me, I drive to much in traffic to be fighting w/my car! Good hunting, and maybe you can get a better price on the install.

i found oem clutch kit for 118 and installation would be free

when i change gears and push in gears, rpms go up and no speed acceleration, slips bad. almost like revving engine but your actually trying to accelerate, i have to accelerate really slow so i doesnt slip

damn thats whats going on with my clutch. Well atleast it lasted 170K miles... Another thing to spend money on..

Yea dude i just had my clutch replaced with a SACHS oem clutch and its fine. When i told my dad i wanted a higher performance clutch he said its really not going to matter because my car doesn't have alot of power and it was like $180 so its alot cheaper than the others. Unless your going to race or add 60 more horsepower then just get a OEM clutch. SACHS makes Formula One clutches too, if that means anything.

autozone sells the clutch im getting for 118, its a cumberland clutch kit, is cumberland any good? i think its oem but want to know if they are good quality

I have a centerforce clutch just stage 1 though and I love it has about 15,000 miles on it and it's great when you get on it, but it does suck when your stuck in traffic.

does anyone know about how much it costs labor wise to put in a new clutch? I really need a new one, and since I have an ST I think stock might be the best bet...

What does the centerforce feel like? Does the clutch just like pop out at the last second? thats what my buddies civic does and I hate that frown.gif .
The clutch I have now is great... I barely have to push it in to get the friction point, I want another clutch like that..... Which brings me to my next question...

If the friction point is still good, but it just revs before it grabs, what exactly is worng with it? Do I need a whole new clutch or just 1 part??
