As some of you know, the decision was made to part ways with our (me and my wife) 99 GT about 3-4 weeks ago in lieu of me keeping our Lincoln LS and my wife getting a brand new VW Passat. After much mulling it over, and talking about finances (me expressing a distaste for a 35K car and $550 a month payment) I mention to my wife "You know, we could just keep the Celi and do the motor swap" to which she replied that she's already considered that.

Background: The Lincoln LS was hers and the Celi was mine, but she disowned the LS after some maintenance issues and commandeered the celica, so it's her driver now.

So she comes to me last night and says "I've made my decision. We're keeping the Celica."

And I just got off the phone with Dr. Tweak. If all goes well we're dropping the car off at his new shop in Mid-Late April when he's ready to do work at the new shop.

The car is in the paint shop right now getting that screwed up repaint on the passenger 1/4 panel redone (originally with intent to sell).

We both can't wait to get it done. Amazingly, my wife who was anti-japanese cars has fallen in love with driving the celi. She, as I, just has an unknown fondness for the car. We're both very pleased to be keeping it and hopefully we'll be a part of the "swap club" here shortly!

Dr. Tweak is going to drop a Gen II 3S-GTE into it. We're going to bring it up to about 12# of boost and throw a custom FMIC, downpipe, and custom exhaust on it. Gonna try to get it out of his shop with AT A MINIMUM 200 HP at the wheels.

Oh, she WILL give it up to me on occasion as I'm the one who initially wanted to do the 3S swap into it (not to mention paying for it!!). The ONLY reason she started driving the Celica in the first place was because the LS left her stranded twice in a month and she called it quits with that car. No biggie because I LOVE driving the LS, but she's gonna have to compromise and let me drive the Celica after the swap from time to time.

Nah, she handles one of our six speed 93 Trans Am's (the one with only 350 RWHP) quite fine.

i would take that car from her so fast and hide all of the keys. and occasionally allow my wife to drive it. theres no way in hell i would ever give my wife (whenever i marry her) the keys to my 3sgte swapped 6 gen to drive on a daily basis. it would be mine!

oh, this brings a tear to my eye biggrin.gif I;m so proud of your wife!

My wife has been talking about a different car and I have been trying to get her to go with a celica. She said that it would look gay for us to drive the same type of car. (I gave her the stink eye after that)

you know my girlfriend has said the same thing (we've been togeather for 6 years... planning on getting married)... but then she suggested the idea of different combos of either a G35, EVO, STi, 350Z, M3, and/or S2000 sooo.... I agreed it would be better to have a combo of 2 of those than to have 2 of the same smile.gif she also offered to give me her 2000 celica GTS to race in SCCA Club racing if i choose... as long as i buy her a G35 or EVO to replace it laugh.gif then i went on to say something like a S2000 or a 350Z may be a bad idea because they are only 2 seaters and dont have much room, she said "whats that matter?"

I love a girl who can be as impractical as i am about cars biggrin.gif
