 Installing New Head UNIT |

I have a Kenwood HU that I want to install. After putting the HU in the bracket, I did a test run on it.. with the all the panels in, the faceplate sticks out! Is there a way to make the faceplate flush or at least even to the panels?

The faceplate I'm sure is supposed to stick out, when you remove the faceplate, the unit itself should sit flush with the centre console. Thats what happened with my Pioneer deck, and in the install manual it tells you to mount the unit itself flush, not the faceplate.

On my sony headunit, there was no room for the trim to fit on...kinda bothers me, but its not SOOO bad...

muahaha my faceplate sits flush with my dash.
i just put the unit in the bracket first made it flush, then applied a screw so that it would stay that way and then install the bracket/head unit. it works. |

I had to custom-drill holes into the case of my Alpine to get it to sit flush with the centre console when the faceplate was in. With the faceplate removed in the standard screw holes, it was flush, but I like having a usable cupholder and a usable radio at the same time. Just required me to produce a bezel to fill the gap between the faceplate and the console trim. Balsa wood, black plastic-appearance spraypaint and some very careful sanding were all it required. Still debating about epoxying in the edges to make the bezel look like it's part of the console trim though.
