Hi,
Just wanted to properly introduce myself. I'm a bit of a Celica enthusiast who own's a few Celica's. I currently have a 90 Celica ST185 and my wife has a 96 Celica ST. I'm 26, located in the western Michigan area and can usually be found on the alltrac.net site. Since my wife and I are starting to build up her car (she's actually turning the wrenches too), I've started hanging around this site (and its a nice site, btw). My Celica has been the focus of my attension for the last year and half, after the clutch died and I couldn't find anyone to change it for less then $1000 in labor - great Toyota design, have to pull the engine to change the clutch. So, I decided to pull the engine myself and found that it needed more work then just the clutch. Since then I've gone through various stages leading up to a hybrid 2nd gen/3rd gen 3SGTE with a bunch of aftermarket parts. Here is the last pic I took (about a month ago): The engine is almost fully together, just about to crank it over. Here is a list of the mods so far: - 2nd gen 3SGTE block with Arias .040 overbore pistons. Stock crank and rods (shotpeened) - 3rd gen 3SGTE head (from the ST205) - completely stock. HKS cam gears. - Modified stock manifold, ported for external WG, currently running a Greddy 20G to break in the engine. I have a modified Greddy T67 manifold and Turbonetics T4 that will be installed in the future. - HKS 1.0mm head gasket, ARP bolts. - Spearco W/A IC, ST205 water radiator, ST205 water pump, ice tank in trunk. I couldn't use the ST205 IC, it hit the Greddy manifold. - Tial WG and BOV - Link Plus EMS with boost control - ST205 trans and rear diff - Clutchmasters Stage 3 clutch, HKS flywheel - Permacool oil cooler w/ relocator - Tein coilovers, Whiteline sway bar and bushings. - no space in the engine bay for anything else. I'm also in the process of tearing down a 3rd gen 3SGE from a 95 Curren, that will be converted over to a turbo for my wife's Celica. It's amazing how similar it is to the ST205. I have several pics and write up's on the All-Trac board if anyone's interested: 3SGE Curren write up / conversion notes Pics of 3rd gen 3SGE Well, thats about it for now. I'm sure everyone will be seeing me around the board. Thanks -------------------- Scott

well let me be the first (or second) to welcome you to the site. its odvious you have a great deal of technical knowledge and I think you will be a great asset to our community.
I checked out the link to the curren conversion, and wow. a lot of good information there. I'm going to have to read through it a bit more carefully but its looking like a very interesting project for your wife's car. cheers, Pieter |

Actually, the 3rd gen 3SGE from the Curren has almost the same head as the ST205, and most of the components present to convert it to a turbo. I think, in the end, it will be less expensive then getting a ST205 clip and produce just as power! -------------------- Scott

yeah except for the fact that you will have to redo all the internals to lower the compression which is VERY high on that engine. -------------------- 1994 Celica GT4 WRC Edition

Only about $250 to have the block cleaned, new rings and bearings, and the stock all-trac pistons installed ( I have a set left over from my car) as long as the cylinders are within spec. The rods and crank are identical to the 3SGTE. -------------------- Scott
