yep other countries are still continuing the celica but not the us. there's been some concepts out there but just drawings. the closest one i've seen looked just like the 7th gen one with some minor changes. dunno where i saw it but from a japanese site. looked very aggressive

^I stand corrected^. Anybody know what countries are continuing and which will carry the TC instead/in addition?

Celica's aren't offered in Japan anymore. I went to the Toyota Japan website and the Celica wasn't listed.

7th gens are still availble in the UK and some parts of Europe. I read TopGear Magazine from the UK and like 2 issues ago it has a 2006 Car buyers guide for all new cars. 7th gen was in there. They are the exact same as the last ones sold here. Same with the MR-S.

honestly, i rather the celica's get discontinued,
here's my reasoning. IMHO of course 1. makes our 6th gen even more special 2. they screwed up in the 7th gen, i seriously almost wanted to kill myself when they launched it in 2000. (sorry but after loving and wanting a 6th gen since 1994 watching the WRC, i totally puke each time i see a 7th gen) -------------------- Journal for my 3SGTE swap

Celica and MR2 will not be produced by Toyota anymore. I heard that Toyota will produce a new model of Supra in order to have a sport car in the production range.
As they say, celica belongs to the past.. But I believe that we will see it again in some years from now. |

It's difficult for someone who wants a little bit of speed to go with Toyota. I have faith in their engineering, I still believe you can beat the hell out of almost any of their cars, and it will beg for more.
The Scion series is a joke, it's misguided marketing that led people to believe anyone would purchase a xA/xB/tC. The tC looks nice, but as I understand it, is pretty slow and feels pretty dead, handling wise. At the moment, my Celica is up for sale. I love Toyota, never have anything bad to say about them, except they just don't cater to what I want. Speed, and good looks. Now it's all SUV's and this Scion crap. It's a shame to admit it, but "toyota sports car" is a thing of the past. I'm currently looking at a 98-99 eclipse GSX or GS-T, Mitsubishi may not be the greatest car company in the world, but they have what I want. I tried looking for an mr-2 turbo, but apparently people that have them either destroy them, or won't sell them at all. |

The caldina is alot longer than a matrix, and the matrix is based of the corolla which are both assembled in Ontario, Canada. The caldina existed long before the matrix was ever conceived, I don't think they are the same car at all as you say. I know where your coming from , i miss my old prelude because of the perfromance the toyotas great but speed just isnt there.....unless i upgrade to GT4 . The prices for a decent GT4 here have fallen a lot , theres a GT4oc.co.uk owner sellin his 95 GT4 with a long list of mods , 56k for £3500 !!! -------------------- 351.5bhp RWD TT
