it sarted out as i went to leave the house and hit the key it stumbled then hit up like normal
i went to back up and it shut off and would not start back up.
i cheked and had fire and fuel i checked the timing belt and it was loose so
i replaced the belt and tensioner cause the old tensioner was locked up
it sounds like it is out of time.
i dissasembled it to make sure i had the marks lined up properly and they were.
is it possible to have the cam 180 degrees off?
also i havn't took the distributor out
is it made so it only goes in one way
or does it have a cog type gear on it?
other than that is there anything else that could make it do this it
just keeps turning over and will not start.

sounds like your cam timing isnt right. retime the cam to the crank shaft and it should be good to go, tho the engine may be flooded. after you get it realigned pull the plugs and the fuel pump fuse and crank it for 30 seconds to clear the cylinders, then put the plugs and fuse back in and it should start easily.

well i was on my second check of the timing marks and they are lined up.
the mark on the crank pully is at zero which put the keyway at 12 oclock
the cam gear hs a lil hole which is lined up with the indention on the cam bearing cap
which also puts the cam keyway at 12 oclock.
is that correct?
the plugs were soaked an look like they have been in there forever so the flooding
may have killed them they were barely firing so i am gonna get som new ones and
try clearing the cylinders.
if it still won't start i'll check the marks again.
if it still won't start then i'm stumped.

not only do the timing marks need to be aligned, cylinder #1 needs to be at top dead center.

Thanks for the info but as it turned out i guess i was just lucky to
catch the timing belt before it popped.
After rechecking the marks and everything and it all being correct
I decided to check the the way the plugs were firing.
The fire was weak and yellow instead of blueish like i am used to seeing.
I don't know which part went bad cause the parts store said they
couldnt check that type of coil or ign module.
so i went to the junk tard and got a whole distributor from
a 93 prizim plugged it up and bam she lives.
The best part is that the coil new was 40 the module was like 248.
Total price for distributor with all the stuff in it 29 dollars
cause he said that geo parts are cheap.
