Would it be possible for a section to be addded where you can add more detail to the engine descriptions?
The reason I ask is because, I notice that many/all celica GTs have the 3SGE engine. My Celica is a jap import 1994 GT (3SGE) (2000 Twin-Cam), but looking at any pictures that I see posted for this particular engine, it is quite obvious that the engines some of the people on this site have are completly different to the one in my engine bay My next door neighbour also has a jap import 1994 Celica GT (3SGE) and his engine looks the same as mine. I read on some Japanese car site a while back that the 3SGE version I have is Revision3 but I can not confirm that. So basically what I was wondering is, "can you post a picture of each engine with the engine descriptions?" I would imagine that this would clear up any confusion regarding who has what engine. It may be particularly useful for performing upgrades and the like since we would know exactly what engine is being referred to. (I got a CAI for my 3SGE Celica but it does not fit due to differing 3SGE variations) Thanks! ![]() |

Yep, the North American GT has a 2.2 liter 5S-FE engine, while other parts of the world have a 177 horsepower 3S-GE, or a even more powerful BEAMS 3S-GE with VVT-i, which is identified by a red valve cover and intake manifold. You can take a look at the information database or the engine swap thread, or simply do a search on the forums for more information on your engine.

Hi No0bOne,
Nope, but they are on the way, My GT is a November 1994 model, so I missed out on those new looking lights. ![]() I can get the upgraded parts from the Toyota Dealer here in Ireland so I should have them sometime over the next few weeks. As soon as I get the chance I am going to put together a "How To" on installing these new items. See ya later.... (Pictures on the way soon!) |

I thought about that again and I was more referring to the fact that there are a few different types of "3SGE" engines available.
There is the BEAMS, VVTi, etc... But looking at any websites that have a picture of the 3SGE, the one they show is different to the one I have. I have a 3SGE but not the same as what most sites are referring to. I had a look under the hood of a few Celicas here in Ireland and they all appear to have the same 3SGE version as me. What are the engine generation differences? I am going to get a picture of my engine bay and post it up here, I know it's hard to describe exactly what I mean without a picture to refer back to. Thanks, talk to you again later.... |
