So my buddy has been having a rough timethe past 6 months with cars, family stuff, school and, work pay. Well his 2nd car in 6 months engine has blown. He had a 92 stang with 120k and the engine died. On Friday he was driving a 94 camaro with 100k and the engine died. Hes a great guy and has been having the ****tiest luck lately; so I'm giving him my car for him to have. I can afford a car more than he can so I'm helping him out this way.

My question is I've narrowed down my search to 3 cars that are in my price range(10K) that I like
2000 Celica GTS 83k miles
2000 Infiniti G20 88k miles
2000 Infiniti I30 85k miles

Out of these 3 cars what would you pick as the better in terms of quality and reliability. I'm looking to get atleast 100k miles out of whatever I buy next. If you know much about these please let me know. I'm looking to buy at the end of this week. Thanks guys

PS. Thanks for moving thread. I thought I had put this in OT.

I am a daily 7th gen driver and I really liked it. It's just as reliable as the 6th. That's all I can give you cuz I've never driven the others before tongue.gif

The most practical one is the g20 with insurance and reliability. The celica going to the most fun with best game milage (91+ octane though). And then the I30 which have depreciated a lot (to your advantage). I30's are good cars but going to be like driving a boat compared to the celica but if you ever have more than 2 passengers it may not be a bad idea. Out of all of these cars I would say the GTS is going to require the most maintenence but the best thing to do is just check them all out, can't make a bad decision if they all have been taken car of decently.

As far as reliability goes, SR20DE motors last forever...mine has 196,000 miles on it and still runs perfectly, doesn't burn a drop of oil, doesn't make any funny noises, etc. Timing chains are nice too because they're really strong compared to a belt. I also never hear about P11 reliability problems really at all, and I spend a fair amount of time on G20.net.

That said, I couldn't really enjoy a stock G20. The clutch and steering in particular were way too soft for my tastes, especially on the two P11s I drove (The P10s I drove weren't so bad.) It feels more luxurious than sporty. The seventh gen. GT-S would be faster and sportier.
