so, i took some exhaust damage when i was rear ended...today im droppin the old parts off to replace with junkyard items i'll get later this week.

well the rear muffler is off and i LOVE how it sounds! but its just too loud frown.gif. what could i put back there to quiet it down but not loose the tone that it has now? i'd like to pretty much cut the noise level in half or more. performance wise it feels exactly the same as before, so that muffler isnt causing any restriction. i'd prefer to not chop up a center section, just something that a shop can flange to the stock piping and hang back there. also no fart canno 3" or larger exhaust tips please, its a geo for crying out loud!

summary:
no muffler sounds good, but is too loud. need something to dampen noise thats not ricey looking or sounding and is pretty cheap.

I have a Greddy knockoff muffler that has the hangers already attached that is one year old and has 2.5" piping that sounded GREAT that I will sell you cheap. If you pick it up, I would sell it to you for $50 ($75 shipped). If you are interested, let me know and I can post a video with sound.

i know your trying to do the right thing for your motor, but this is one of those times where you should just trust the guys who have had their swaps for a while and have done a ton of research into this.

I live NE of Peoria. About a 2 hour drive from you. I will get a pic for you. It needs to be polished but I will just get you a pic so you can see it anyway. It had a 2.5" exhaust. If you are on a 2.25 system, you will need the exhaust shop to make a transition - not a big deal.

I would also give you a ride in the beast if you like smile.gif

hmm sounds tempting.

im not sure what diameter stock piping is on this car, its reduced slightly after the center muffler. it may be 2.25 or 2", i'll go check in a few minutes and edit in my findings. edit: it looks like 1.5"

2 hours is a bit of a drive for something that i wont know how it'll sound, ya know? also i dont know if your hangers match where mine are either.

if you'd like, my AIM screen name is Huzudra. we can talk on there faster than here.

i found a muffler online at rock auto for $53.76 before shipping.

its a walker soundfx muffler

A Sound FX muffler is a 2 tube design muffler, with direct fit designs that are O.E. equivalent.

i wonder how close to stock that will sound?
