alright..so a few months ago i figured i'd blown my engine..the car died on me..and i had the mindset i threw a rod or a bearing or something..today i got curious..charged the battery and started it up..and the engine is making a ticking noise..which is close to what it was in the first place..then i figured..could it possibly be a timing belt? idk..then i have a hill driveway..and i was goin up it..and it was like..slipping..but i know the clutch is good bc its only 10k miles on it...any1 have any idea?? im open to anything and everything..thank ya

If you blew the motor, you will have oil leaking, or oil eating problems. Easy way to check to see if it's the timing belt is to simply pull off the cover and look to see if it's broke or whatever. If you think it could have jumped time, just check it with a timing light. Shouldn't be too hard to figure. I hope you didn't blow the motor. Oh, I don't think the 5sfe or 7afe will run if you break the timing belt due to some kind of safety system on the motors.

Sounds like a pretty big tick. Thats more of a knock at that point. Buy a new motor. Cheaper and easier than messing with rebuilding the one you have.

Sounds like rod bearings being chewed. Do an oil change and see if some metal shavings come out of the pan. If it does, a new engine is in the house, or if you can take apart your engine and decide which route to go. I would inspect the engine, see if any cracks exist, parts still all good and no Major damages. If you see a lot of damages, go no further and buy a new engine. That will save you lots of $$ and headache down the road.
