I had the check engine light on so when I got the code it was 71 that's a EGR valve problem so I replace the EGR sistem ( hoses, valve ) the car is driving wayy better now but after like one hour driving the check engine light came back on. and it's the same code ( 71 )
what can be wrong with this ? what should I be looking for ? Do I need to replace something else ? any help would be great. thanks. update I got this valvoline and I cleaned the intake manifold, but the instructions on the product says to spray it inside the throttle body, but I'm not sure if that would damaged the engine or not. would it be ok if I open the little intake valve and spray this product in here ? see picture below This post has been edited by Culpable04: Jul 8, 2006 - 4:30 PM -------------------- |

Silver94CelicaOwner, the living walking reincarnation of Jesus Christ himself, says:
Disconnect your negative battery terminal and just leave it be for like half hour. Reconnect and it may reset the ECu to forget the code, since you may have fixed the EGR problem but not the code. -------------------- |

I did disconect the battery terminal for like 5 minutes when I installed the new EGR valve. and then I started driving and 1 hour later the light came back on.
I'll do it again tomorrow morning to see. -------------------- |

hey when you replaced the valve did you clean the hole in the intake if it is like mine was it was full
of carbon as in completely blocked and if it is blocked it will do the same as before. also you may want to clean the tube that hooks to the valve itself. good luck. -------------------- 94 st

make sence, I saw white dust and the intake inlet so should be dust all over. I can do this tomorrow morning, if some of you have any guide line on how to do this please send it this way. I already change my engine a week ago and I don't wanna mess this one up.
thanks. -------------------- |
