I just bought myself a JVC headunit and in the process of installing it my self, after taking out my old headunit (which was shop installed) i took one look at the factory wiring and thought peice of cake! well........

i am absolutely farked i have no idea what each colour represents! guys im not going back in my car unless someone can help me identify all the wiring colours please please!!!!!!!!!

its an st204.

most important wires i need to know, accesory wire, remote wire, ground wire, battery! basically the major wires used to intstall a headunit. If anyone has the complete list ill be kissing ur ass from here till next year!!!

thanks guys.

Whats doing fellow Aussie? The black is probably the ground wire. As for the others, get a tester! They cost $1.95 at Supercheap Auto and that will tell you the accessories and constant power. Connect the ground wire last. Most after market car radios use the same colour code for the wires if that helps. Sorry I couldnt give you any more info.

OH! you just missed out on a Celica cruise around the melbourne area. well it was half an EXA cruise and a Celica cruise.

I believe what you are looking for is THIS.

Inside that PDF (be warned there are lots of images inside so its a big file) you will find full instructions for installing a cd played/head unit, and more importantly, there is a diagram mapping wires to functions - based on their location on the connector not their colour. Makes it a lot easier to understand all the wires.

I know what you're going through because I had the same drama six months ago. Took me AGES to find that diagram too.

guys thanks for everything, the wiring diagrams were magic!!!! problem was.... the wiring loom/harness for the headunit was not right, I hooked up another headunit to the instructions you guys gave me and it worked, this leaves me with the conclusion that the problem lies in the new JVC headunit. All fuses are still intact. Once again thanks guys, maybe i can return the favour some day!
