its kind of a general question, since most of us have the same setup.
your looking at around 3-5k for a swap and anywhere from 200-240ish at the wheels depending on exhasut, intercooler, dyno type and boost level. from there the sky is the limit and pretty much just a turbo upgrade away. -------------------- 15PSI - 30MPG - Megasquirt Tuned

I have about $7000 in performance parts in my swap - not including labor. I estimate my power at 260whp at 16psi.

I'll put it to ya like this: I have given Dr. Tweak $7000 for our swap. That included the JDM Gen II and ECU, downpipe, custom exhaust, electronic boost controller, FMIC and custom piping, Perfect Power SMT-6 and tuning (dyno time is costing extra though), installation of pre-purchased Autometer Nexus gauges and pod, and complete motor swap. I know I'm forgetting a couple of things.

Maybe to get rid of the AFM, de-tune the overly rich condition, pick-up another 20-30whp or so, and to be set-up for a bigger turbo someday? Just a thought... FWIW, after much reading over the last 30 months, I am of the opinion that going to a full EMS would be a great first mod for anyone with a 3sgte (assuming they have the budget). -------------------- QUOTE(lagos @ Jul 10, 2006 - 1:55 PM) i know your trying to do the right thing for your motor, but this is one of those times where you should just trust the guys who have had their swaps for a while and have done a ton of research into this. |

[/qoute] agreed. not many people have the 2k+ budget to do it right, tho. the SMT is just a glorified piggyback, not standalone. -------------------- Former Team 5SFTE pro member ;)

Would not gain much of a PFC with everything stock. But its nice that for the ST205 there is a standalone with predefined maps in it.

But definate requirement to break 300bhp on gen3 w/ stock turbo, and doing so with reliability. I wonder how much more power could be extracted from Jay's whip by tuning. -------------------- QUOTE(tufy @ Jul 19, 2006 - 7:40 AM) i dont drive fast, i just fly low |

Only can be done if you ad the Apexi boost controller along side it. Something that I think every does who gets a PFC. So your quote of 760 USD is a bit wrong. Should be 1000 USD. But thats still a nice price for some good engineering. This post has been edited by Kadett: Jul 11, 2006 - 2:27 PM -------------------- JDM Powerplant installed, BPU coming very soon!

Doc and I talked pretty extensively about the use of a piggyback vs. a standalone vs. nothing, and it was decided that the SMT6 would do everything we want in a way of tuning as well as giving us the ability to tune for what we're doing now, and for future plans. It's more than adequate for what we're doing with the car.

long term for me is either an ATS rom tune or the apexi power fc
although megasquirt isnt a bad choice either, its pretty damn cheap and my friend just megasquirted his volvo 242 so im learning diff things about tuning on that |
