How would I know if I need new Valve Seals? My car loses ALOT! of oil. You have no idea how much money I lose because of it. Every time I gas up (normally 350 miles) I have to add 2 qaurts of oil. Before I would drive for fun, like an hour a day. Which is like every 2 or 3 days I'd have to gas up. With Gas prices going up and me having to buy oil, plus trying to save up for college.

So I need to know what to look for in general. So far I've replaced the Radiater Flood (it was dark), Changed Oil, added Oil cleaner. I have some Engine Restore to put in and I'm going from a High mileage 10w30 oil to 20w50 oil.

How much would I be looking at for the valve seals bought and installed (roughly guessing)?

I dono for sure but everytime you get a valve clearance don't they replace them for you?

My car gets around 420 mpg if I go easy on it. I spose 2 be getting around 500 I believe. ST gets 30-35 mpg.

vayle clearance?

I'm not talking about MPG, every 350 miles I refill. At 350 miles it hits 1/4 tank left.

sorry meant valve clearance

Check for leaks. Good areas you can tell are spark plugs, oil pan, oil filter (placed right), headers sometimes leak around there, muffler see if there is any oil despense in there.

try replacing your valve seals, i had mine done and the oil burning was reduced a lil bit, but not that much, it still burns, how many miles on your car?

if your valve seals are leaking, the oil will burn when you start your car, especially after its been sitting for more than a couple hrs.
i cant see bad valve seals leaking that much.
sounds like you have a more serious leak.

Is it hard to take off the head cover and just look around? Is it easy to mess anything up by taking it off? Im curoius, like celicamx said, I also loose a good quart or a quart and a half of oil per oil change.
