Can anyone tell me where the best place to mount an aftermarket amp is? I would like to put it somewhere visible if thats possible, and it snows where I'm from, so I cant really put it under the seat. Please include pics if thats possible... Thanks!

FYI. The amp is for two 10" kicker subs

Mount it to the box. Check my prrofile for a pic. Let me know if you need more.

It is a 1200 watt amp, about 2.5 feet wide, and I made a couple custom alminum brackets to bolt the amp up to. The hard part was angling them so the amp would look good. I bolted these right up to the box.

okay, Ill probably put it on the back seat, Because someone told me that he mounted his amp to the box and it rattled one of the components loose in the amp, I dont know if thats true or not.

-Thanks

One of mine is bolted under the rear deck. The other is inside the panel next to the backseat where the rear speaker would normally be. Both are out of the way, both have been there for a while, and both still function perfectly.

Yesterday I got my amp in the mail and I really went out and did some looking for the right spot to mount it, but I found that the material around the side of the trunk and back of the trunk were probably to flimsy to mount it to. Since my car is a convertible I cant get to the back of the seat, because the place where the top folds down into is in the way. I was thinking the side of the box might be good, if you have any advice or opinions please let me know. The box is factory sealed.

-thanks

eek...that sucks, I was gonna say the back of the back seat, mostly because thats where mine is (i just put the backseats down while I'm driving, I didn't want to ditch the hatch cover cuz I wanted to be able to hide everything when I park up).

I've seen them mounted to the box, never did it myself though...

I've mounted three different amps directly to boxes, and all of them are still alive and kicking today.

Yeah I cant find anywhere else to put it so im going to mount it on the top of the box. Anyways... not to get off subject, but, I had the amp and subs all the way hooked up, I used an extremely overpriced rockford fosgate wiring kit that I bought at best buy, I go to try it out and I realize there is no fuse in the fuse holder thats built into the power line, so i thought that they probably put it in the kit. NOPE, None of the fuses in the kit fit. Has anyone else experienced this problem, what fuse do I need? HELP!!! Is it possibly an ANL fuse. Another thing is with the deck I have, Sony Explode (installed by Best Buy), There are six RCA connections in the back of the deck. 2 for rear out, 2 for front out, 2 for BUS in, they had the rear speakers hooked up to the rear out, we had to unhook these to put the sub in, but i still want to use my rear speakers, how do I do this? Also, thanks for helping me out already, I appreciate it.

Okay well... I figured out the fuse thing, it is the 100 amp fuse that comes in the kit, but last night I was up really late and didnt see the cutout in the side of the fuse holder (HAHA) but with the speaker thing, i think best buy messed up the install of the deck, because the front speakers are trying to come out of the subs is what it sounds like, and for some reason they already had the REM cable hooked up.

I don't know about other people, but I had a sony x-plode amp hooked up and hanging behind one of the back seats. You can't really see it entirely but you can tell it was an AMP.

depending how big ur amps are.. u could try putting it on the floor of the front passenger seat (since it's kinda deep) and make a false floor to cover it?
