soo im looking at a celica tomorrow..well actually now looking at the clock..today. its 250 miles away and a 6gc member said i should look at his too. hopefully i get there.im sure his is a better deal.be cool to keep it in 6gc too. anyway, i would like you guys to give me your opinions on this car im looking at. its a 1994 toyota celica GT hatchback 5 speed loaded, sunroof, white.as far as i know completely stock clean carfax and records, 100,000 miles for $5899 US. in the pictures, nothing looks damaged. none of interior or engine however.
Please! Everyone Reply with any suggestions and advice on the price! i dont want to get ripped off. or have someone come from underneath and buy it on my way out there.thats happened 3 times already.it really makes me angry... suggest a good price for me. my opinion is he is over priced by about 500$. he's a dealer and said he's flexible. i was called with a very good deal from a 6gc member if the first doesn't go through ill be paying him a visit. Thank you for all the help! gnight.although im so excited i wont be sleeping. Erich |

I think 5,500 is a good price. As long as it looks clean and all.

if it is COMPLETELY mint it's an ok price imo.
prices are always meant to be haggled, unless FIRM is said ...might be low mileage but it's still a 94 check nada and kelly blue book. i'd want to get it for something in the 4's This post has been edited by Consynx: Aug 25, 2006 - 12:29 AM -------------------- |

the price is high...but thats from my local perspective.
even in great shape, i'd be shooting for low 5's if i were you. white is far from the most attractive color for these cars (not knocking white ones, but let's face it, nothing looks great in white). i'd try and use that as a bargaining tool. the dealer is going to try and convince you the car is worth his price, and you have to counter by pretending you don't really want it for some reason. color happens to work well. if there is ANYTHING you don't like about it, let him know. do your best not to show much excitement about the car, because if he knows how badly you want it he's going to play off that and be less "flexible." if you get him to think he might lose the sale, he may very well come down into the range that's more reasonable, maybe that extra $500 will come off. look for rust, specifically on the bottom inside edge of the doors and the edges of the wheelwells (trouble spots for our cars). i know they armor-all the hell out of cars at dealerships, but see if there's any evidence of smoking (i.e. burns, a charred cig lighter, funky smell...etc), and obviously any dents, scratches, tears and whatnot. use those as "tools" as well. hope that helps and good luck! -------------------- do you know who i am, mr. worley? |

Thats it right there. He is your b*tch, and hes out to please you, not the other way around. People get that confused when buying cars. Get him down to AT LEAST 5K. -------------------- Teh Celica sleeps for Winter '06. Suspension overhaul begins........

Yeah, check everything man. Don't be like me. My clutch stopped grabbing 3 months later. Freakin pissed me off. Check for a hard clutch pedal. Look at the tire's tread. If they are bad, lower the price even more becuz it's like 150 dollars per tire plus labor. Check brake fluid, power steering fluid, and clutch fluid to see if it's well maintained. Also see if the lights work! ALL of them! Tail lights, headlights, gauge lights. You have to be picky picky picky as possible. Don't be like me. I showed alot of excitement. They got me good. I couldn't haggle with them at all after they noticed.

thanks for all the opinions guys, lol when i drove the car it drove amazing.first celica i drove, but it was leaking alot of oil..idk where it was coming from but also, in the ashtray the was left overs from weed.lol my dad noticed it first. and the driver side sunvisor mirror was shattered.also, the guy had replaced the engine.the car actually had 156k on it. and he said the rebuild had approx. 100k on it.i dont like playing like that cuz you can't tell if they are lying. my dad asked the guy "how flexible are you on the price?" the guy began to shake his head and said im not gonna discuss any price until you are serious. i was like "i drove 275 miles to come see this car..you think im not serious?" he still didn't give me a ball park range of price.so i said **** him.and went to see the other one i was looking at.ill have another post if that deal goes through. ill be joinging the family eventually either way.
