Yep i was arrested for reckless driving. This was a couple of weeks ago. Some guy pulled out right in front of me and i used the center left turn lane to pass around him. Cop saw me coming around the guy and made a U-ey and I instantly pulled over in my works parking lot (i was going back to work anyways) and he asks me why I was in a rush and I told him that guy pulled out infront of me and so I went around him. He then asked me to step out of my car cuz i was under arrest for reckless. I didnt put up a fight but WOW TALK ABOUT EMBARASSING since it was infront of my work. He puts me in the back of the car searches my car and asks why theres alcohol in the backseat. I said the minature bottle was from a mariners game a month ago - which is true. it was unopened. Then he told me that "come to think of it, you do smell like alcohol. Have you been drinking" I was actually quite offended by the remark but told him I hadnt and I was willing to take a breathalizer. He told me it wouldnt be neccesary. He then told me if I cooperated he'd just cite me there. So I did the whole time but I guess he changed his mind cuz when he returned to the car he started to drive away. I asked if I could tell my work since this happened on the backside and they probably didnt see me but he said I could call htem after I was ffingerprinted. Which would be after my work was closed anyways.

So were driving to the station and he takes me in and they had no where to put me. All the holding cells were filled. They talked about putting me in the bathroom till they realized they had someone in there being held. So they put two guys togehter in a cell then put me in one (alone). I stayed quiet. The lady who was doing my fingerprinting and pics was really nice but the cop told her to take her time with me. So I finally got out about 2 hours later or so and I walked 3 miles back to my work. I didnt want a ride from anyone cuz I was upset with myself. So my parents were upset but more upset with the cop for A. Handcuffing their little girl B. accusing me of smelling of Alcohol and C. Giving me such a harsh ticket.

Well im dealing with one of the best lawyers now - 2500 bucks but well worth it in the end I think. Parents luckily put up the money for it cuz I dont have 2500 bucks to pay upfront. So im in the process of dealing with that and paying them back.

Im not mad at the cop - yeah I shouldnt have downshifted and went around the guy but I have a fear of braking hard ever since I had to do that once and my brakes went out.

Note - no comments needed of how I deserved the ticket - im not putting up a fight over it but the 2 lawyers ive talked to even said it was pretty harsh and they usually wouldnt give reckless for that.

Yea Getting arrested blows. Especially when your face is pressed against the cold steel of a cruiser(My Experience). Sorry to hear about it. I feel your pain. Not exactly too much of a fan of the polce. Theyre great cause they protect and stuff, But who stops them for un necessary speeding in a cruiser? Plus they focus in on my rice-mobile

Only thing that did upset me was when he was driving me to teh station he didnt use his blinker to make a turn and he unbuckled 2 blocks before we even got into the parking lot.

How are you going to enforce rules you dont even follow yourself

bummer, he musta been having a bad day...
i hope it all settles good for you.
you think it had somthing to do with the car?
i get pulled everyonce and while doing normal stuff, i normall get off, but ive gotten pulled like 3 times... all the cops did was want my lisence, insurance, and a quick glance in the back...my theory is the car sets off an alarm.

you couldn't just get a ticket? I mean, was it really all that necessary to get arrested, brought down to the station, and actually almost get held in a bathroom? Just seems a little extreme to me, seeing as you seemed so cooperative.

Sorry to hear about it, though. Hope it all works out.

See what I mean? Cops think theyre better and they dont care. So why should I? That might sound reckless, but I actually obeyed the rules and they still screw me over.

Did you just hijack her thread to insult someone else?

Back on topic, wow it seems that cop really took it over the line. Police like that are pathetic, best of luck, I wont really give any advice because ive never been in that situation but best of luck getting it removed from the record. The judge wil prob see it your way as well, that was way over the line especially if you were being safe. Any word from the laywer and her advice?

back to the topic.

Just bring up that it was not safe to break cause you could have hit the other guy if you would have risked it.

btw how fast were you going?

Assuming your story is accurate, the offense is called "improper lane usage" - not reckless driving. If your lawyer can't get that ticket reduced to a petty offense, she better issue a refund.

i know your trying to do the right thing for your motor, but this is one of those times where you should just trust the guys who have had their swaps for a while and have done a ton of research into this.

My lawyer has gotten a family friends 16 year old son completely off of 3 RECKLESS - completely off! and gotten some other people completely off DUIs. Shes good. So Im hoping for this completely dropped and if not then improper lane usage will probably be it.

I would have to do something, I would be soo pissed that I just got a ticket cause I went around someone. I would def. blow up inside. You did well not saying anything to the cop, maybe he was in a bad mood and you were the one he was taking it out on. Yeah, I hope you get something done in court about that. GL.

sry just a bit confused. youre paying 2500 for a laywer to try and get off of driving recklessly? why is that a lot of points off or something?

I did the samething last Sunday night. A stupid truck did a U turn and went off to the side of the road and instead of staying off the road he decided to drive back on right infront of me so I just went around him because I knew I wouldn't have been able to stop in time, but I was lucky because as soon as I passed him a car was coming head on in the other lane smile.gif.

I really hope your lawyer can get you out of it, or at least largely reduced.

In some cases, the consequences are too severe for the violations we commit. You never know, there could have been someone else making a mistake, and been in that turn lane... a situation where you or others could have gotten hurt.

I have made some mistakes too, it's okay, and I'm happy it wasn't worse.

But I bet from now on, you will stand on the brakes. wink.gif I too drive much more cautiously after getting severe consequences.

Good luck to you!
