I got one coming for my newly bought car, should arrive next week.
Being someone whose most complex carwork to date has been changing break discs, will it be hard for me to isntall the shifter by myself? Or should i leave it up to a friend who has more experience?

It's not that hard...I believe there is even a sticky on here that shows you how if the instructions don't work.

it's actually a very simple process. The instructions provided with the shifter does just fine. Except actually removing ur stock shifter to replace with the knew one is a real pain, but simple procedure. Limited spacing for ur hands to work and remove the little screws/pins/washers. Also make sure you use a vice when removing the plastic cup using the cup remover tool to remove the two cups from the shifter. It's alimost impossible without using the vice---i've already tried when installing mine haha.
