as a fun project, i decided to make myself a short ram intake for my car. it came out pretty good, so i figure id post it here, to see if you swap guys would want me to make more, since no one really makes an intake for those of us that dont want to relocate the battery.

EDIT: in *theory*, this intake should also work for any 5sfTe guys.

some benefits of the intake are:

less restriction of airflow over the stock intake.
no need to relocate the battery
optional recirculation fitting for recirculating the bov
good replacement for a stock 16yr old rubber intake that came with the motor.
comes with 3in to 3in coupler from the intake to the afm
comes with 2.75 to 3in reducer to form a proper air tight seal from turbo to intake.
one 1/2 fitting for pcv valve
one 1/2 fitting for idle hose
one 1in fitting for bov recirculation

here is how the prototype looks. any rough spots you see in the prototype will be smoothed out for the ones that ill sell, for a cleaner look.

one of the ones recently made:

and here is how they would look in the engine bay:

straight intake:

price:
70$ plus 10$ shipping (angled with recirc fitting)
60$ plus 10$ shipping (straight with recirc fitting)

these are made to order. please allow 2-3weeks for delivery

great price, when i was lookin into making my own custom intake i could barely find couplers for 50$ let alone couplers, pipes, fittings, clamps, and labor.

the places i was looking had reducers costing like 35$, a 3" bend costing another 30, etc..

im sure art will get better prices when buying in bulk but for somebody who just needs one of these like the typical swapper this is a good deal, i might have to be the first customer, haha.

Hey art,

I'm interested in a straight one, how short could you make them?
I'm going to be setting up a "cold air box" where the battery was

thanks

JC

how short do you need it. i can probably make a really small one depending on if you need the recirculation on it or not.

I definatly want recirculation, ill go take some measurements tommorrow, i basically need enough space for the AFM to be outside of the Cold air box i build.. so its basically going to be the pipe, the AFM and a decent sized K&N filter that need to fit between the turbo and fender.

thanks art

that should be no problem at all then. get me a pic of your engine bay too, just to make sure you dont have any fmic piping that would be in the way or anything. what color couplers do you want?

here is my paypal address : artificial.music@verizon.net

it will take about 1-2 weeks max to get all the materials in, and ship the intake

Man i totally forgot about my ic piping.. its not installed yet, its jgreenings old pipes.. here is a pic where im holding it over the top mount.

IPB Image

It looks like it might be fine going by it but i cant tell since this isn't installed..

About the PCV valve, thats like the crankcase vent right? is that the reason my intake manifold has oil residue all on the inside? can i just put a small air filter on the pcv itself? if so i will do that and then i wont need that extra fitting on this pipe..

the IC piping is my only concern right now, especially since the intake pipe is 3in.

any ideas?

yeah, the pcv valve is what causes the oil in your intake. thats totally normal. some people put a breather on there, but if you research on the net, some things say that it should be hooked up and under vac. its really up to you to decided if you want it or not.

if you just want 2 nipples on there, i can make them right next to each. it shouldnt get in the way of your ic piping, since youll be able to point them in what ever direction you need to clear the piping. ill also leave enough room in there for a standard KN filter if you want to change yours over at some point.

Sounds good, you can go ahead and keep the PVC on there for now, no need to put a breather on.
How much should i send to your paypal?

oh yea, blue connecters please biggrin.gif
