My tranny is gone...and im am scrambling to find a replacement. I was looking into the solara tranny for my 5sfte. What do you think. I already have a stage 3 clutch and pressure plate, i also ordered a light weight flywheel. now....will both clutch and flywheel fit back on with the solara tranny? Can i now get a lsd made for the solora? If not....does that mean the a lsd made for the 5s will fit back with this solara tranny? Is there anything else special needed to bolt the solora tranny on? Will it run better or worse?

2 different trannies mean stuff won't interchange. The e153 from the solara will need a different clutch disc. I believe the 5S flywheel and the 3S flywheel are almost the same... so it should fit and work fine... but the E153 input shaft is different. LSD's are available for the Solara tranny... because it's the same thing as the MR2 turbo tranny. There are a LOT of 'special' stuff like mounts, axles, shift linkages and whatnot to fit the Solara tranny. After all that... it'll run probably the same as it did before.

All of the above is true if by "solara tranny" you mean the E153. The solara also had the S51... which will just bolt up more or less.

a E-153 solara V6 tranny will not* work with a 5SFE. The reason for this is that the 3SGTE pressure plate will not bolt up to the 5S flywheel and you cannot use a 3SGTE disk in a 5SFE pressure plate because it's too large.

does a 3SGTE flywheel bolt up to a 5SFE crank?

*if the 3SGTE flywheel bolts to a 5SFE crank, yep the E153 will bolt up and work with the right axle combo, mounts and shifter cables.
