Im stuck on installing my Air/Fuel Autometer. I have everything set up execpt the blue wire that runs to the O2 Sensor. My friend was installing it for me and it got late and had to go. He told me to set the wire on one of the prongs of the O2 sensor Adapter. I tired both. Nothing happened. Frist prong nothing happened just had the regular green light set on rich like it always does when it wasn't connected. 2nd prong, when I start the engine it flickers on the lean side a few times and then goes blank, with no lights what so ever. I was looking at the instructions and its kind of confusing to me. Wondering if anyone know what to do or can help me out. If phots are needed I can take some of everything.

hook it up to the white wire on the o2 sensor. then you have to wait for a while for the sensor to warm up before it starts reading. if you reset your ecu, youll have to wait even longer for the ecu to relearn its values before you see the a/f gauge bounce.

so, hook it up, and drive around for a day or so, to see if it kicks in.

stick a thin wire..preferably like speaker wire coonected from your unit to the 02 sensor......if its not thin, itll throw your 02 readings causing the check engine light come on.....hope this helps...

Yeah we are using speaker wire for this very reason. So the white wire is the one. I will get it set up today. Thanks for the help guys.
BTW - On my GT it worked immediately and it's the 4 wire one. His is only a two wire one. Is his a heated O2 and does anyone know why some must be heated and others do not?

Ok we worked on this more today. Got the gauge signal wire hooked up to the white wire of the o2 sensor and when you start the car it does it's swing clockwise and then cycles back ccw to lean and disappears off the scale. I mashed the gas and it never shows anything after that. I seriously doubt his car is running that lean.
Any ideas?

Beat me to it! Lagos I drove a good 100 mile round trip today also. So it should of kicked in by now.

Talked to around 3 people they are telling me to Tap the white wire and secure it. Yet Negative is doing it through the connector prong and works fine for him. Bad connection or something?

tap directly into the wire, and solder it in place.

if after trying everything, it still dosent want to read, then its possible your o2 sensor died on you a long time ago and you didnt realize it untill now.

Give it a shot Jeff. If Dr tweak and Lagos told you to it should be fine to try it out. Tweak does wireing harness as a side business for our cars so I would say he knows what he is talking about. Also Lagos ahs been on here too long and has too many mods to not know what He's talking about. Just because my method worked for me doesn't mean it will work for you. As I stated above your plug is different then mine and has less room.
IDK - I've just been told not to touch the wires on an o2 sensor but their idea would not be effecting the wire itself like a cut and splice would. I'm pretty sure your o2 is working properly due to the code you threw the other day when we put the headers on your car.
This raises another question I've had since I installed my A/F gauge. If splicing into the wire changes the resistance wouldn't tapping into it and/or tapping into it at the connector also change the resistance? Based on this idea it seems the only way to do it and not change the resistance would be to add a 3rd o2 sensor dedicated to the A/F gauge. Mine seems to be working fine. Oh Ivan [russiankid on MR2.oc] did the same thing with his old 5S MR2 and he had the same autometer gauge so WTF?
