I was wondering how much weight we would save by gutting our interior and anything else you all can think of. I want to gut my car out and just have one or two racing seats, but if it only saves me 100 pounds, hell no.

my car is gutted from the driver seats back with the exceptions of the plastic trim panels.. no spare tire etc. It's actually hellllla loud now because i hear the rear suspension clunk and i hear the road so much more since there is nothing to muffle the sound. I am going to dynamat a lot of the rear to solve this but that stuff isn't cheap and is only going to add the weight i reduced....

the seats aren't heavy . probably only as heavy as the spare tyre.

Not enough for it to make much of a difference. One time i cleaned out my car and weighed all the crap i had sitting in it and it totalled 135 pounds. I bet i saved a crap load more by just keeping the car clean and ncluttered.

Agreed, the reason i took them out, is because i hate having people in my back seats, i'm 6'4 and someone behind forces me to drive al crammed up. I'm also sick of giving people rides at school. smile.gif and ive decided to go nuts with some fiberglass and build some custom enclosures where the back seats were

backseat delete, spare tire removal, cf hood, cf hatch, plexiglass rear hatch window, fiberglass fenders, anything else i missed... around how much weight would that reduce?

i'm guessing close to 100 lbs...
btw, a CF hood and rear hatch with plexiglass rear window will save the most weight imo. also maybe ABS, A/C, power steering removal and light weight rims as well. oh and maybe keep your gas tank near empty all the time.

is there even a place to get custom plexiglass windows made for our cars?

I've replaced my hatch (with an oem one) and I'd say that the hatch with the back window by itself probably about 80 pounds. so a cf one with a plexiglass window would probably save 50+ pounds. I've also put on fiberglass fenders, and I'd say you probably only save like 2-3 pounds per fender. the stock fenders aren't very heavy. I don't know how much the hood, spare tire, and backseat weigh, so I can't help you there.
