well heres the story: i live in cali n i have an st. i love the celi, but im tired of its lack of power so i want to swap a 3s in it eventually (planning on saving for like a year or so). to my understanding tho, there is no legal way to swap a 3s in cali. i really want it, and would like any input from anyone on what i should do. also, (im sure i know the answer, but) is it worth it to swap in the 3s?

Just don't get a loud exhaust and you'll keep the negative attention away. Sure, a 3" turbo back will bring out a nice bit of power and quicker spool, but getting a conservitive 2 1/2" exhaust with a cat and resonators will keep you out of trouble.

As far as legality goes with inpections and smogging, I agree that you should consult your fellow californians to see where you can get the hook-up. Nothing should stop you from being able to swap after then.

If you want to look stock, just gut the main cat.
It'll be good enough for stock turbo and may be few more psi.

Performance will be perfectly fine on 2 1/2" ... 3" can be over kill for a lot of 3sgte swappers.

Or if you are really worried.. just sell your ST and use the swap money to buy a faster stock car wink.gif

Yea.. it's getting increasingly more popular though. What would really blow peoples minds is a v6 or v6 mr2 smile.gif Now that is rare compared to a 3sgte celi swap.
