ill be getting a gt4 bumper here in the next week. after looking through the jdm parts database in the sticky, i was wondering if i need the 2 brackets for the upper grill for it to stay in place. if so, why is it listed as optional? thanks
http://www.6gc.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=1481 to save on costs right now im looking at just getting the cover, upper grill, and turns. on a side note, i dont know where those prices came from, but the prices from my toyota dealer are a bit higher. all the parts listed under bumper parts came out to 815.43 This post has been edited by celicaST: Jan 14, 2007 - 1:59 PM -------------------- I think Bigfoot is blurry, that's the problem. From what I can tell you need them to secure the grill in its orginal way. They bold on it from the innerside of the bumpercover. Can be secured with a little creative thinking without using those brackets.

i didnt buy the brackets for the upper grill. i just used some silicone and 2 zip ties to hold it in place. so its up to you.
toyota has 2 prices they can charge you. list and net. normally when you go to the dealer, they try to charge you the higher list price of the item to get the most money out of you. but what they dont tell you is that they can sell the item to you at a much lower net price. you can try asking them for a discount to see if they will give you the net price. i think the idea behind their net/list pricing is that if a mechanic phones in an order to them, he can get it for net, and then make some money off the part by charging the customer the list price. -------------------- 15PSI - 30MPG - Megasquirt Tuned

$815 is a bit much there. I got most of my bumper parts for half of that.

Hey guys, some quick questions for ya. I'm putting a ST205 front onto a 1995 (pre-facelift) ST204 (same front end as the ST202 / 203).
I need to know, - the bar that the fog lights are on, is that the 'reinforcement bar' or is that a separate part? - where does this bar bolt onto the chassis? I can't see any bolt holes that line up, do i need to drill new ones or should it line up with some existing ones? Thanks for the help! fog lights? i think they sit in the grill. I could be wrong though. I haven't gotten around to getting my bumper installed ever since I bought it nearly a month ago. As for a bar, as far as i know, your crash bar needs to be cut a bit to fit the bumper, or you can pick up a GT-4 crash bar.

check this thread. it should give you some info on how to fit the gt4 bar fitment on a st204 without the use of gt4 frame rail brackets..
the only problem doing it this way is that the gt4 reinforcement bar will not fit flush into the bumper absorber, instead it's about an inch or two away. if you want to mount the st205 foglights properly, then you'll need to get the st205 frame rail brackets. finished gt4 conversion -------------------- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |

If you have the foglights too, just save yourself the work and get the gt-4 crash bar. If you don't have the foglights, the cut-down us one would work fine. Its a lot of work to get the fog-lights to mount without the gt-4 bar.
The bar will attach to those two big metal posts that stick out on either side of the front of your car. Just look for two big rectangular pieces. You will need to remove the brackets that the US one mounted to. -------------------- psalm 69 |
