Hey all, i've been browsing around the internet for a bit now and was wondering what everyone thinks would suit my 1995 celica sx 5S-FE.
Been to a few sites and havn't been able to find any cold air intake kits (A few SRI's though) to suit my car or any walkthroughs. I know my car is most likely similar to many others so any idea where i can get either of the two types of kit plus revelent infomation on installing them? Thanks tons guys. |

you are going to be directed to the search function sooon.
cai or sri . not much difference to hp.Best option is to just chuck in the oem K&n replacement panel filter. the 5sfe is not a performance engine. go with whatever sounds better. |

all you gotta do is tell him that there are no "6th gen celica" cai kits. You must fabricate one (or ebay has fabricated) or buy a SRI (Injen, weapon R, etc), or use the drop in k&n and take out the bottom reservior and suck more air in.

no intake on a celica is going to make any sort of difference. Save your money and invest in better mods... unless you want the sound and underhood look... in which case evilspeed did, at one time, make a CAI... Or you could make your own.

Just a note, CAIs are usually placed in a spot where it can receive fresh air which can cause problems if you live in a wet area since you'll more than likely end up sucking some water into that engine of yours. My general advisement has always been to buy an SRI and just make your own heat shield for it.
*Also note that most people here are correct in saying that this mod is usually done for sound and looks on smaller engines. (neither of which I am opposed to ) This post has been edited by GTS13: Jan 22, 2007 - 5:18 PM -------------------- |

It's not the photographer's fault. Bigfoot is blurry. And that's extra scary to me, because there's a large, out-of-focus monster roaming the countryside. |

Ah mad st is equal to the aussie sx right? But yeah i was looking at some CAI's on ebay (zomg ebay i know) but even though it looks like it'l fit my st204 (This kit here http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/90-95-96-97...QQcmdZViewItem) i emailed the people and they said it wouldn't lol. So is this evilspeed the way to go or does anyone else on planet earth make the CAI for my car lol. Also the whole hydro lock thing isn't a problem, i live in a very dry and hot city lol and the difference when my car is cool compared to when it's sitting outside at 40C is pretty noticble. My mates also getting a CAI for his elantra (Lolololol no chicks for him) and our cars are neck and neck so i've gotta match it with my own |

Ok, so apparently I forgot to mention that not only do I recommend SRIs but they're easier to get. For instance Weapon-R has also been a favorite for me.

Buy a Civic ram air intake off ebay and make it fit, or cut the plastic up under the stock filter and replace it with a K&N drop in. CAI's do not hurt cars even in the winter or rain. You can take a puddle to the filter and the car will, dum dum dum, keep running. I've put wet filters on my car before. It just runs like crap for a bit and sometimes stalls. Only way to water lock a motor is to submerge the filter so it acts like a straw.
EDIT: Buying anything like Weapon R, or Injen is just a complete waste of money. Anyone who has it on their cars has made a bad decision. This post has been edited by Bigmeanbulldog55: Jan 31, 2007 - 8:00 PM -------------------- Live Free, Be Happy

I installed my CAI and noticed the difference was more than the sound. Also it helps if you have exhaust and a header. I have a CAI and I live in WA the land of rain and the car is still running great if not better than when I was in San Diego. The only way to water lock the engine is to submerge the intake and that can be fixed with a good CAI bypass valve. |
