I want the BEAMS, but I want the turbo..MAN I want them both LOL....so if I go with a 3sgte, would it be better with a st185 model or should i push for the newer model? I really want to get this right, and make it as easy as possible. I would appreciate any help you guys can give.

3sgte is the most cost effective swap for a GT.
I would go with 2nd gen 3SGTE.
It is cheaper and will meet your power goal with few simple mods.
(FMIC, MBC, intake, and exhaust)

Correct.

I'm in a swap like this right now (from 3S-GE to 3S-GTE)
Only modification I had to make, was the motormount at the timing belt side of the engine. I had to grind some metal from it because it hits the timing belt cover. For the rest its almost plug and play (except for the wiring harness and the exhaust)
