Um... no... a ST185 / ST205 tranny will not work for a FWD setup... But like you said, the MR2 Turbo tranny should work... and so will a Solara tranny. |

Beams engines are 3sge's with VVTI(valve lift and all that good stuff. I hate to say this, but it's Toyota's version of VTEC)

Yes, but less potential than the 3sgte. It'd got the neat looking valve cover though!

you can use 3s-gte parts for it which would lower the compression thus making better for boost.

I disagree... there are various differences b/w the Beams motor and a 3S-GTE. The main problem is compatibility in the electronics of the Beams, limitations in the crank design, *probably* with the oil coolers, etc. I know that alot of parts will swap over, but the internals of a 3S-GE cannot handle the same boost as a 3S-GTE. Besides being a pain and expensive to do, coverting a 3S-GE to a 3S-GTE (spec) is a high risk project; what I mean by this is that a 3S-GE will more than likely blow up, unless heavy modifications are done to the internals. I believe the 3S-GTE will out perform a turbo'd Beams motor any day... especially a 3rd gen 3S-GTE... This post has been edited by kuya1284: Jul 16, 2003 - 5:10 AM |

yes, and why deface such a rare engine to turbo it? if you want to boost, just get a 3sgte, don't mess up that beautiful motor. in the end it will cost way less to go 3sgte than to turbo a 3sge. -------------------- 1994 Lexus ES300

I plan on going with the 3s-ge, turbo kinda just creates problems and you have to keep your oil really clean, which i'm not good at doing... Rivo was saying something about a supercharger for it. Besides with the 3s-gte you have to swap in the hood and bumper also for the clearence...

not the 2nd gen 3sgte, if you swap that in, and go with a FMIC, you'll be fine. -------------------- 1994 Lexus ES300

How much of a power sacrifice would that be though?

the ss-III, had the beams red top, 200hp. The beams engine also came in the altezza, black top with 210hp... not that far behind the 3s-gte.

And with just a (simple) boost controller, the 3s-gte will blow the 3s-ge out of the water. This post has been edited by kuya1284: Jul 21, 2003 - 1:58 AM |
