My glove compartment only shuts when it wants to,somtimes on the first try,somtimes on the 20th try.i looked at the hing and and cleaned everthing up and its still the same.New glove compartment?

Do you mean it won't stay closed? I would maybe check the latch. There might be something in there keeping the mechanism from working.

No i mean when i try to shut the glove box the latch just wont click and lock.Ive celaned it out 3 times and it still wont shut all the time.

i had this same problem on my old celica, i had to really slam it shut, i never figured out why it was like that but then again it didnt really bother me

Is the spring inside the latch in good shape or the latch "tooth" worn down or broken? Those could be possible problem spots.
