Hey guys,
I'm installing a set of racing seats here shortly with some 4 point harnesses, but if I install the 4-points and take out the factory seatbelt, will the "fasten seat belt" light still be on? if so, how can I fix this? im just getting into the tuner scene, so help a fellow celi out. thanks! |

the wiring for the seatbelt light is connected right to the part you click the belt into. the wires disconnect from the bottom of the seat. so yeah, if you go for a 4 point you'll have to wire something up to make the seatbelt light work... or just pull the bulb from the back of the gauge cluster.

yeah I had the same problem.. I just took the 2 wires from below the seat and connected them together. I believe if you just unplug it the light remains on..
But in the meantime I just plug in the factory seat belt behind the seat and into the buckle so that it looks like i'm wearing it... i got pulled over because a cop saw my factory seat belt just dangling and assumed I wasn't wearing anything.. then saw I had the 4 point harness when he came up to the car.. -------------------- ~Daniel~ No Longer Celica Owner.. moved on to a 03 WRX-EJ207

Anyone know what quality 3A Racing seats are? thanks again. |

just a warning you should check your local laws about 4 points. Here in canada, you cant use 4point harnesses as a suitable seatbelt for the street unless you go with something of high high quality (IE Takata, OMP or Sabelt) even then its a grey area. But as for the wiring to keep the light off, you can snip the wires about 4 inches below the buckel and just soilder them together. Or just take the bulb out..bulb would b the best/safest bet mainly because if you ever have to put your OEM belts back in, you can just but the bulb back in. Also, make sure you mount your seat belts in the proper way AKA using a rear strut bar or harness bar other wise you could injure your self serverly. Spine compressions are fun.

Can you pass inspection in the U.S. with a 4 point harness?

haha nice. I don't think racing seats are " a lot of work" unless they won't fit in your car. I think the only problem I'm going to run into is having to mod my seat rails to get the 3A seats in. shouldn't be too hard though. I know they make a seat rail, but im buying the seats from a local store, so i dont know how hard it would be to buy rails. o well, we'll c when we get there.
