This trailer gives us the first action shots of Venom - and Topher Grace looking badass.

trailers are good....but it looks like venom is going to just be a black costume identical to spiderman's unlike the cartoon where he's badass

i dont know, the screen i posted was from the new trailer when the black stuff fell on the other guy, not spiderman.

There are several different storylines regarding spider-man. The black costume (symbiote) is originally on Spider-Man then he gets rid of it and it gets onto Eddie Brock who becomes Venom. Its the same symbiot suit so it would look the same.
In the original comics Eddie Brock does work out and get to be a pretty big guy. In the Ultimate Spider-man comics, Venom is just like Spider-man looks wise. Decently skinny. He was supposed to be the exact opposite of Spider-man. Sam Raimi uses parts from all comics to create his version on the movies. At first I was like, wtf Topher Grace?! But after seeing this new trailer, and how different Topher looks from That 70s Show, I feel confident in his depiction of Venom. i've always been a large fan of Venom...hopefully they'll put out good screen shots, i'm hoping to get my motorcycle helmet painted as Venom

I'm skeptical. I'm extremely excited for Sandman, he is badass. Although I think everyone who is wanting to see Venom is going to be EXTREMELY disappointed. Don't get me wrong, next to Supersprynt and I, there probably are no larger Spider-Man fans. I have read almost all 500 issues of Amazing, and a lot of Spectacular, and tons of the Ultimates, and the entire collection of Civil War.
I have ALSO read the movie's novelization. But I read Spider-man 2's as well, and it was quite different from the movie. But if the book is anything like SM3, Venom will get screentime for about 15 minutes, and right at the end. I won't spoil anything, but I don't believe Venom will be in the films in the future. The Venom in the movie appears to be just an evolution of Eddie, he gets more evil and more evil progressively in he novel, and Venom is simply the height of Eddie Brock's hatred and evil nature. But be excited for Sandman. By the way if anyone cares, Spidey is currently rocking the black costume in the latest issues of Sensational. May gets shot by a sniper, and Spidey freaks. Recovers the old black costume much to Mary Jane's chagrin, and swings around in it. Not the symbiote, just a replica of the black costume. I'm stoked. Just picked up the latest issue of Sensational along with a few old Moonknight's at my local comic place. edit: holy crap, im finally off of my Mod Preview. Only took 6 months! Thanks mods.
