I had a friend who used to go to scca events all the time. www.scca.com, but he's in Cali now and I'm in Illinois. Now that I've reached this carhood adolescence I wanna go to some events. I was just wondering if anyone here does, (especially in the Illinois area) and how hard is it? It looks real hard. Mines an automatic, and I was wondering if any autos raced. I wouldn't want to show up and be the only person without a stick and get laughed at.

anything and everything races. its not really hard, but it takes a lil while to get used to. its all about the driver and the car, if you know your car well and can drive it and know how it will react you will do very well, if you dont, its a really good way to get to know your car better. you dont get a true feel for your cars strengths and weeknesses untill you get out and race it.

Right on. SCCA racing is awesome! I always race at Flyring Cloud airport near my house. It's an hour drive every couple weekends but so much fun. Three weekends ago I went up to North Dakota and did some autocrossing. It was so fun...just enjoying the scenery while pushing your car to the limits. Mine's an auto BTW.

Yea I'm definitly going to go to the next event. It's a prosolo Aug9-10 at grissom areoplex, peru indiana I believe. Maybe I'll bring a n00b friend and race against him, although he probably wouldn't be in the same class as me.
Snadman, how do you race your auto? Do you just stick it in 2nd and drive like that? Also, what class do I think I would end up in? I'm driving a st204 celica with intake, exhaust, underdrive pulley, and s-afc. |
