So i got my jl subs and a nice box for my car And im wondering what would be a good way to secure the box so it doesnt slide around..

And what are you guys thought on having my subs pointing at about an 80 degree angle up and towards the back of the car. i
I didnt want it facing strait back incase my back pack or somthing might hit that box or worse rip the subs.

i will be running 2 10inch jl w1v2.4 subs on either each sub being powered by one 250watt amp or have them share a 350 watt amp.

heres the box i have so you can get an idea of how i want to mount it,just imagin the box on its back with the sub point up and slighty torward the back.It fits in to the back of the seats perfectly.

well that looks like a pretty heavy box and on its back im not sure how much it will move... but if it does, the best way to secure it is to get a couple l brackets and mount them on each side of the box then through the metal below the carpet in the trunk... and that will for sure make it not move. facing up in a hatchback is good too, because its pretty loud when the bass is hitting the glass and resonating

thats what i was thinking and i was actually suprised this box isnt to heavy considering that is a premade box. I made one for my subs but then i saw this box and it was perfect dimensions and all.

If you are in an accident, an unsecured box will move. Not something you want, especially in a hatch.

If you like the way it sounds facing the back of the car but are worried about the sub being damaged, put a grille on it.

As far as the positioning, move it around and see what you like!

one, they won't move because I have a 1 12" sub with a small box. two, I've heard them facing all directions, they all sound good.

i have 2 12's in my truck, its a coupe, i did what he said above, made brackets and bolted em in that way, i also used a black solid rubber bungee cord to secure the top so it deff isint going around, the bix did used to move, so i wedged it with 2 pieces of plywood cut to length, and every now n then it would move, plus it looked ghetto, since my nice bolting they are secure, also when cornering hard i no longer have the wierd effect when the weight of them slides n throws the car off a bit, nice choice on subs, jl makes some good stuff

i justed used norm L brackets that u can get from ur local hardware store. Secure to floor first than box and that box will never move. It worked great for me.

I used strips of velcro tape(correct word?) stick the hard side under the subwoofer and it will sit in place on your trunk matt for ever. Cornering/accelerating, no problems.

Total surface in my case is 4 strips of about 1/2 " going with the full length of the underside of the subwoofer.

this is the best angle i could find 2 show some of the false floor. We had to make some step up plates because the box was a little wider than i anticipated... creativity HO! biggrin.gif
