what can i get more hp out of? i was looking through the faqs but couldn't find any thing about which is better. now i seem to find more people getting the swap but wouldn't the 5sfte have more due to the bigger engine? i know it is only slightly bigger (3sgte 2.0L and 5sfte 2.2L) but still bigger.

It really depends on what you spend on it, and how much you willing to invest in it. I'm currently going 5FSTE right now because I still have a fresh motor. It'll be cheaper and better idea of the 2.
It really depends on a lot of things. 5FSTE... enough power. 3SGTE... way more potential! |

Think about what your goals are. A 5sfte will get you what you want, but your undieing need for more power will kick in soon and you are going to wish you did the 3sgte swap instead.

5sfte will give you a lil more low end torque. but a 3s has much better overall potential.

Well seeing as how one of the fastest supras in the world has a 3sgte and the 3s is actually made to be turbo.... ide go there. Just ask the 5s guys how many little things tend to go rong with their set ups. Drive your car how it is. Then buy an engine stand and then buy a 3sgte and leave it in your garage for a year and dump $$$ into it and work on it.... then when that day comes along, swap the motor... and hang on.

QUOTE(Consynx @ Apr 9, 2007 - 7:39 PM) go 2jz except i don't have $12,000+ to do all the modification that would be needed or to buy the engine. if i wanted a 2jz i would be better off buying a supra. probably less expensive and much safer. 2jz is out of the question. next? i think i am just going to wait til i can afford a gt4 front clip and put the 3sgte in my car. thanks for the help guys. one more thing. i heard that the mr2t 3sgte doesn't have the same specs as a gt4 3sgte. is that true? just thought i would ask. Depends on what generations you are comparing and if your comparing USDM to JDM. Also i just wanted to throw in that the 5sfte can have a lot of potential as well, it just depends on how far you are willing to take it. -------------------- |

the 6th gen celica 3sgte is the 3rd gen 3sgte
the mr2 and the celica 3sgte are the same, except the alternator is located in a different spot on the mr2 then it is on the celica. 1st gen < 2nd gen < 3rd gen < 4th gen when it comes to straight HP numbers on the 3sgte motor. ( i dont remember exact numbers, so i dont want to miss lead.) This post has been edited by devilsden97: Apr 9, 2007 - 10:23 PM -------------------- Kawi Love |
