In my searching about this pump, I read some reviews of it about the sound it makes. I would really appreciate it if someone could take a video of the noise. I need to buy a fuel pump, and Supra TT flows a little too much I believe. Please post info about the noise, videos, opinions etc. Before we start talking about Supra TT vs Walbro, lets get some info out on the noise it makes.

Now...it seems as though you could put stereo insulation, or some sound deadening over it to cover it up, and make it disappear?

Here is an example of noise:

A lot of people report mixed reviews of the walbros noise. Some don’t mind it, some say it drives them crazy. a lot of it will have to do with, how you install it, if you just happen to get a pump thats louder, and how loud your exhaust is to cover up the sound.

the best way i can describe the sound is... eeeeeeeeeeEEEEEEEEEEEeeeeeeeeeEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

no you cant. it goes in your fuel tank along with your fuel. you shouldnt be putting anything like that in there.

if you want a quiet pump, then buy the oem supra one. it wont flow too much, because your fuel pressure regulator keeps things in check, regardless of what pump you are using.

I was thinking under the seat, above the area where the pumps goes. I'm not sticking any sound deadening in there! tongue.gif laugh.gif

heres a video i took awhile back of my car revving in some parking lot. u can hear the walbro going off on its normal tone when i lay the cam down behind the car towards the end of the video. its not that bad in the car, maybe cuz i have a 3 inch exhaust, on normal driving. but when you get on the throttle and that pump goes into full power, boy is it loud. lol

actually they DO make a specific foam sleeve that is made to go over the pump, that supposedly quiets it down quite i bit..
honestly, any time my car is running, you can BARELY hear the pump. once your off idle, or turn your stereo on, you cant hear it at all.

Do you know where this "sleeve" could be purchased? Wonder if anyone here has tried it...

i dont know how much that sleeve will cut down on the noise, but its worth a try.

i got to say, the oem supra pump is where its at. its just like our stock pump. you cant hear it at all.

hmmm..that might b a good investment for my 83. I put a walbro fuel pump on it when the oem one leaked on me, and you can hear it buzzing constantly when the cars running. I didnt know if it was just pushin to much fuel or if it was just a loud pump. That helps knowing theres a sleve you can get. I should check with the speed shop i worked at in Toronto and see if they sell the sleves by them selves through like walbro or federal mougal.

Thanks for the help-

its not that loud in the car. on its normal tone, its pretty quiet inside and u really cant hear it unless it goes on full power. i only really notice it when im in a parking deck where every sound gets amped or close to another car, cuz i guess the noise gets bounced around. this is from outside the car btw. ill try to get u a short vid from inside tomorrow after work, hopefully when it stops raining (its like floods here in NJ!)

What about using an MR2 turbo fuel pump? Would that work for running a stock boost type application?
