heres the link to a 86-89 celica turbo 3S-GTE 205hp
http://www.japanracingengines.com/engineview.asp?id=108

nice cheap price! and the 94-99 turbos have 255 hp

so what are the main differences b/t the 2 besides the upgraded turbo and exhaust manifold to fit the turbo??

does the turbo n headers create the extra 50hp difference??

because if so, it b cheaper to buy this engine

The first engine is from a st165. Difference, about ten years of technology.

The ST165 is a very old motor. I would pick up the 205.

Main difference are the ST205 has better turbo, better intercooler, run higher boost, different intake manifold (single runner), and different intake air measuring method (Speed density MAP vs AFM).

1 bit to note that parts for the ST205 are harder to come by...(the ones that arn't the same between the St185 and ST205)

but st205 anyday is my vote

Hey doesn't the ST205 turbo manifold come with some kind of anti-lag system?

Only the ST205 WRC comes with ALS.
Even so, it is neither connected nor functional.
BTW, if I had a plan to upgrade turbo, IC and aiming for "high" HP, I'd choose 2nd gen over 3rd gen any day.
